Staff, hotel and restaurant are wonderful. Staff is very nice and always attentive with a smile. Rooms are lovely. We had room 5 and it had a beautiful view of the bay. A little tricky getting bags up the spiral staircase but worth it. Restaurant is amazing—whether for your complimentary Scottish breakfast or for dinner(be sure to make reservations a day in advance). Highly recommend the meat and seafood platter—but beware—the platter for two is enough food for 3-4 people. Entire experience was wonderful!

Lovely hotel in most respects and the couple meals I had in the restaurant were excellent. I was with a tour group and they booked really really small rooms, so probably a larger room would have given this a five rating. Everything was very comfortable although the window was hard to open, which is necessary because there’s no air conditioning, but eventually I got it to work. It was quiet and peaceful at night. The shower stall is very slippery so I put a small towel down on the bottom. The door to the room was hard to open (I have arthritis in my hands) and there’s no way to lock it further from the inside, and twice during my stay their hotel personnel walked in without knocking. The carpets are stained andin need of cleaning. Otherwise, it was an extremely comfortable place to stay with a good bed and pillow. They even had decent lighting in the bathroom, which I haven’t seen too much on my trip.

This is our visit after a few years previous and it just gets better, our room had a view of the bay, it was lovely and clean plus lovely big bed. |The food was amazing with huge portions ,we was sat in the conservatory at the front which was lovely and quieter than the busy dining room. |The only thing I wish you could change would be the ladies toilets doors, they open inwards which makes it really difficult to get into and out of ,especially with the sink in the cubicle, please look into this, I'm not a big lady but anyone else would struggle. |Can't wait to return again.

The rooms were clean, but a bit cramped. The beds were comfy, but a bit soft. But the location cannot be beat. The same can be said of the staff at The Grill who waited on us hand and foot as if we were royalty. All of the staff at the hotel should be trained by this exceptional team of young people. We didn’t have time to try the spa, but it looked delightful with reasonable rates. Laundry service was a big plus. The front porch is a lovely place for drinks in the evening overlooking the bay. There is a lovely walk if one turns right where you can watch the sunset or rise. Overall, an outstanding experience.

This was one of the first Small Hotels of our Scotland trip and it did not disappoint! The rooms are as others have noted, "cozy", but we also found them rather charming. The hotel offered a choice of bag lunches the next day for our trip to Mull and Iona and that helped a lot! Our room had a partial view of the bay and the location was great for either city walks, beach walks, or forest walks. This hotel has a full restaurant by reservation with a varied selection. |Would recommend!

Stayed for 2 nights at Oban Bay Hotel. ||We booked a twin/double room. The room was nice enough (clean), with large shower, tea/coffee and nice selection of Tunnocks biscuits. Beds were rather soft so were the pillows which is always an issue for me when I stay at hotels.||Room was on the small side and felt like it could do with some modernising. ||We ate in the Oban Grill on both nights (more to come), but they had ran out of lamb so ended up opting for the seafood pasta. The dish was average and I have had a lot nicer dishes elsewhere, especially when we were paying £30 each. We raised that when we left but upon speaking to the restaurant manager we were offered a free meal the next night. I had the steak the next night (my wife managed to get her lamb). The steak wasn't great as I had asked for it rare, but came medium at best and wasn't very tender. Didn't complain as it was free :)||Breakfast wasn't amazing either, again they had ran out of dishes (halloumi this time), but the scrambled eggs didn't taste very fresh (I make better). Coffee was also very weak and not very tasty. ||The staff were friendly (one exception to that which I wont go into). ||The bar area is lovely with stunning views of the sea. Location is great with just a few mins walk to the town. ||I doubt we would return to this hotel in the future. Wasn't great value for money in my view, but then areas like Oban can charge what they want due to tourism.

Decent room. Staff excellent if a bit overwhelmed at times. Exceptional breakfast.||Coped well with a large group but this might have impacted smaller traveller groups.||Good location away from town centre. Great views from lounge bar. That's it

Recently stayed here an was so looking forward to staying in 4 star hotel. How disappointed I was - 4 star it certainly is not. The front of the hotel which overlooks the bay is preferred for people with dogs. Someone came in at breakfast into restraunt and asked if they could have breakfast at front overlooking water an was told no this was for dog owners only.
Our room was at back of building which is accessed via 3 steps along corridor with heavily stained carpet up a further 4 steps then another 6 and this only to get to the lift.
Room sub standard chipped paint on wadrobe door and paintwork, net curtains ripped, laundered white bedding very heavily creased (have stayed in better laundered sheets in Premier Inn) window frames in the putty area is black. Bathroom was fine. Food was lovely no complaints. Staff are friendly however it is bear minimum Hello what food can I get you etc same at bar. Was 1 friendlier waiter who was Scottish and made sure we were fine and chatted.
On check out after a couple of days stay was not even asked if we enjoyed it.
Biggest bug bear was parking 2 disabled bays and 2 electric bays at front, to the back room for possibly 4 small cars. The rest had to go up side street behind cathedral an walk back which is fine but coming back in the dark there are no lights in parking area.
Definitely will not be back.
