I can't comment on staying in the rooms here, however the food in the restaurant has always been absolutely phenomenal. Quality of food is some of the best I've ever tasted and the service has always been top notch. Big well done to all of the staff for creating a brilliant and comfortable atmosphere for people to dine and drink in. One of the easiest recommendations I'll ever make, I'm constantly telling friends and family about this place. Keep up the amazing work!

What a beautiful place to stay. Our first time visiting the Peak District and would go back tomorrow and stay at Old hall Barn. Everything was 10/10, the food is delicious we had dinner Saturday & Sunday, 2 great meals, would highly recommend their Sunday Roast. Great wine list, sister pub just over the road has a great selection of British & Belgian beers, good pizza too. Our room was beautiful, the location is stunning and Dan & the rest of the team were so friendly, accommodating & professional. Truly memorable. Thanks and hope to visit again

Great Stay in a Lovely Location!

We had a really enjoyable stay at The Old Mill Inn in Chinley. The inn has a lot of charm and character, with clean, comfortable rooms and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout our visit, making us feel right at home.

The location is ideal if you’re into walking or exploring the outdoors. There are some fantastic hikes nearby—Kinder Scout, Mam Tor, and the Edale Valley are all within easy reach and offer stunning views. It’s the perfect base for exploring the Peak District.

We also found the food to be excellent, with a great selection of drinks in the cosy pub downstairs—just what you need after a day out walking.

Definitely worth noting: you’ll get better rates if you book directly with the inn.

All in all, a lovely spot that we’d happily return to.

Had a fantastic 2 night stay here in a great room. Staff couldn’t do enough to help us and the food was brilliant both nights, as was breakfast. GPS devices and advice from Dan were a big help in figuring out the best walks. We’ll definitely be back.

This pub/hotel is so well run: the staff are efficient, friendly and enthusiastic, everything appears well maintained, the kitchen is in great form and there are 8 (yes 8!) beers and ciders on hand pump, a sign of how popular this place is with locals and visitors alike. Lovely bedroom and bathroom, great pub atmosphere at one end and a proper restaurant at the other, lovely garden and fabulous walks from the hotel (there are something like 18 or 19 walks of different lengths and difficulties on the website and available to borrow in acetate form from the hotel - Dan seems to think of everything!). Very impressive, and a delightful place to stay.

Me and my husband celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a 3-nights stay at this wonderful and charming hotel in the Peak District. Dan and the team, sorry can't remember all your names, were so friendly and welcoming, even helping us out when the first table offered on the Saturday night wasn't ideal and we were quickly moved to a better one. Dan's enthusiasm for the beautiful area he lives in is infectious. His suggestions for great walks were most welcome along with the use of the hotel's Garmins. The food is freshly cooked and delicious, you need a good day's walking after the generous full English breakfast. Great choice of wines. Thanks Dan and Co

We stayed in the 2 annex rooms and they were beautiful. Really clean and had everything we needed. |The staff couldn’t do enough for us, dinner was amazing and breakfast too - perfectly set us up for a walk to Kinder Scout. I would 100% recommend 👍

Excellent visit in every way. Booked directed via the website (cheaper than booking.com). Food was excellent - ate at the restaurants both evenings; good mix between traditional fayre and seasonal dishes. You get the feeling that this is a much loved local institution, and understandably so. Staff were outstanding - friendly casual service.
