We came for a “wine and dine experience” spa break. It was ok, the pool facilities are good but were very busy and if you do not arrive at midday you may have to wait for one out one in.
The location is great and the place itself is great although there was a silver fish in our shower and the food service felt very rushed. Food was nice although the wine choice for the package was red, rose or white rather than more specific. The cocktail bar was very nice.
Overall, a relaxing stay and a good location but felt a bit like a number through the door rather than a valued customer.

Stayed at old thorns last night which was a package deal. Spa treatment, 2 course meal and over night stay. Arrived at 1pm and the room was ready which was great. Check in wasn’t till 3pm.

The massage was lovely and the surrounds felt to be very pleasant. The room was spotless and felt very comfortable.

Dinner felt very rushed but the food was good. Booked in for 6 and was gone but 6:45z started came out quick and plate cleared. Less than 5 minutes later the main arrived which gave me no time to digest the starter.

Breakfast. What a disappointment. Eggs were hard, plates cold, toast stale, sausages tasteless and hash browns burnt. The breakfast put me off visiting again as it’s not that cheap to stay at

We checked in online via the link provided and arrived before the 3pm checkin to use the gym - room was ready so we where able to get to our room. Gym facilities are very good lots of space and equipment. The spa was busy but staff constantly checked numbers and after a very short wait we entered the spa and pool area steam room sauna hot beds and pool busy but no wait for anything. Free drink voucher to use in either bar and dinner at 7.45 nice relaxed well paced service. Breakfast was good plenty of choice and tasty. Room was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend a Old Thorns package.

A beautiful hotel and lovely rooms. I got married here in April and stayed in one of the two bed apartments for two nights. The apartments have everything you need if you want to cook and the whole space was to a very good standard with beautiful views of the golf course. The dining facilities and the pool area are lovely (leisure facilities were busy on the weekend). Breakfast has a wide selection of food and staff are very welcoming and attentive. Great for a relaxing break and will certainly be back.

The hotel was decorated for Christmas and looked really pretty. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming and the staff were really helpful especially Sue and her colleague on reception. The spa was really relaxing and welcoming annd we aLao enjoyed the Wellness Suite. Dinner and breakfast were delicious with lots of options to suit everyone. Otis cafe was like an American diner, we had breakfast rolls and coffee when we arrived. Our room was large, clean and modern with a powerful shower and huge comfortable bed. We’ll definitely be staying again, really can’t fault our stay, we had a lovely time.

We have just returned from an incredible weekend at this hotel. The location is fantastic, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The gym facilities are top-notch and have left many local gyms in the dust.

The spa had a few minor issues, but they didn’t detract from the overall experience.

The 3 course dinner menu is brilliant and the selection of drinks in the bar areas had a lot to offer.

Stunning hotel!
Health spa amazing
Food is very good
But there was one thing that was quite strange.....
In the morning way before check out, I was in the room packing, and my boyfriend in the bathroom. Suddenly, you hear the room door shut ...what just happened The cleaner eventually peaked inside and when she me obviously quickly shut the door .
Well not sure why she actually opened the door if there was still about 2hours prior check out .

Thanks God my bf did not step out of the bathroom 😆

But overall it was very nice and pleasant stay!

I was almost scared into cancelling our stay back in December 2024 after seeing bad reviews but i'm SO glad i didn't! We had an amazing time here relaxing, staff were faultless, food was tasty and quick, room was lovely, enjoyed the bar and the swimming and health spa area.

We loved it so much that we are in the process of booking our wedding at Old Thorns! Looking forward to coming back in March for a tribute night.
