Recommended their meeting room for 20+ people to have an evening Christmas meal. A Big Mistake. Lovely pub area and choice of beers, friendly staff and plenty of parking. The one vegetarian choice was served with meat gravy even though the no gravy choice had been reiterated just before serving. As a result of the delay we all had cool main dishes, some of the produce was below the standard expected and there was little of it. A microwave had obviously been involved as the hot desserts were either extremely hot for some guests and unheated for others. The meal ended with coffee and home made mince pies which were a disgrace for anyone who claims to be a chef. Having finished our meal the tables were cleared in such a way to leave no doubt that they would like us to leave. An opportunity lost to attract new customers, and a customer of over 40 years.

Party of 8 for 1 night with breakfast. |Outdated, dirty and overpriced. |Bar area full of cobwebs which were multiple months old. Generally unclean in all areas. |Staff were very polite but not well trained. |Bar had good ales and wine but that was the extent of it. |Rooms are outdated and uncomfortable. โ€˜King size bedโ€™ was 2 single beds pushed together with 2 single duvets.|Other guests had to move rooms due to little or no heating. |Breakfast was honestly some of the worse food weโ€™ve had. None of the party ate more than a mouthful. The food looked and tasted like it had been cooked the previous day.|Not expected at this price point and resulted in a disappointing stay. |We will not visit again.

Very attentive staff
Very clean rooms with good facilities. Very warm en-suite.
Rooms all very individual - some much larger than others
If you have mobility issues do mention as some rooms are accessed by relatively steep stairs but ground floor accommodation is available.
Excellent value with a good selection at breakfast
Highly recommend

We had an enjoyable two night stay in the Old White Hart with dinner on both nights. Our room - a King Premium - was very comfortable and I especially appreciated the armchair as I sleep badly and often get out of bed and sit and read during the night. The surprise was the huge bathroom with the absolutely enormous whirlpool bath, as well as a large wet-room type shower. There was ample room for both of us in the bath and we could have got a couple of children in there too, had we had any! Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Dinner was served in the dining room on one night and in the bar on the second as there were only a handful of people that evening. We enjoyed our food on both nights, although I was left with the faint suspicion that main courses could have been pre-plated up to a certain point as no substitution of vegetables was permitted, although other vegetable dishes were available to order as extras. Breakfast, served in the dining room (a very pleasant room) was good, with home made jam and marmalade and all the usual suspects: cereals, yogurts, cooked items but the highlight for me was the bowl of stewed plums, possibly from the garden! This is something Iโ€™ve never seen on a breakfast table before and they were delicious, especially with the yogurt. So much nicer than the fruit salad that so often contains melon (my pet hate!). It is worth noting for those who are less mobile that the following rooms are accessed by a metal staircase out in the rear courtyard: Caldecotte, Wing and Stoke Dry (all the rooms are named after local villages). These could perhaps be slippery and the hand rail is only really accessible on one side, the other rail being covered with climbing honeysuckle. Overall this is a lovely place to stay and in a beautiful village. We would certainly return.

This restaurant runs a half price lunch promotion on weekdays, which might make it bearable if you don't mind bland, reheated food. The full price is similar to a quality restaurant in the home counties, and for that price this is just diabolical. ||The food is low quality, and clearly hastily reheated from earlier making up. Staff had no interest at all in whether we enjoyed the food, and understandably looked embarassed as they cleared away. On paying, the waitress held the terminal up in the air "to get better reception" - something I haven't seen since about 2003.||This place needs a real re-think and refresh, otherwise it's doomed to be a permanent half price catering venue.

Fabulous pub in lovely village with delicious and varied food on the menu. I had pheasant which was tender and tasty. Cosy bar and friendly attentive staff. Would highly recommend and would take no notice of recent previous negative comments as everything was perfect on our visit with family.

I attended a family birthday party for 50 people here on 14/9/24. We had drinks, sit down dinner and all 14 of the attractive bedrooms were occupied by us. This is a lovely, traditional pub with good parking, seats in the garden, and in the middle of a beautiful village. Food and service were fantastic and the rooms were gorgeous with a cottagey feel and large, modern bathrooms. The owner, who I think also served us, did a brilliant job and I can't recommend this venue highly enough. 5 stars +++ from me!

I'm here at the moment writing this review, its a complete joke.

We have paid ยฃ135 for a room with large spa bath for my birthday but we have no hot water!!!
I rang down to reception and was told they would sort it.

An hour later still no hot water!!!

When I rang reception again I told they had put the bolier on and I would have to wait because she was the only person working in the bar and put the phone down on me.

I don't know what's going to happen next but that's enough for me. Expensive room and for what.

Do not come to this hotel. It's a laughing stock. I was here a year ago and it was fabulous. No idea what's gone wrong.
