Lovely hotel, we had a large family room that was more like an apartment, lots of space for two adults and two children. Nice and quiet too, but still easily within reach of York city centre by car. We arrived quite late but the owner was brilliant, let us in without any fuss then left us to it in our room, just as we needed. We'd definitely stay here again!

Claire was there to welcome us to her B&B the room we had was more than adequate for our needs. If you want a base to use whilst we are visiting York the rooms are perfect for that. You can have a double room or you can have a family room with a little kitchenette that allows you the freedom to cook your own meals. The rooms were adequate for our needs the breakfast was lovely too all three parties who stayed here were happy and would go back.

Orillia House is in a beautiful location and close to all the tourist spots we needed for York and Yorkshire areas nearby like Knaresborough and Harrogate. The property was well decorated, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was wonderful and welcome. Gary was the perfect host. Next time we travel we will try their lovely cottages. Paul Davies

From the outside, the b&b looks nice but other than that it’s poor. We stayed in room 3 and for £89 a night I’d expect a lot more. The room is small, the bathroom was filthy and the bed was rock hard. I also wouldn’t expect to pay £8.50 pp for breakfast at a b&b. We went to the Highway Man down the road for breakfast which was great! Also cost £13 for both of us! Luckily we had family members staying close by so for our second morning we showered there as my partner couldn’t physically stand up in the bath...to hose himself down as there was no stand up shower. I wouldn’t recommend staying here to be honest.

Room was very basic for the price. £90 for a B&B I think is on the expensive side. We travel a lot with my husband's work. Also didn't include breakfast this is £15.00 each!!!!||||||The bed!!!! I've slept on comfier floors! I tossed and turned all night! Finally got to sleep but walls are so thin we heard coughing from the next room! ||||||No shower, just a hose off taps so sit down shower it was.||||Tv remote didn't work so manually had to change channel and volume. ||||No spoon for tea making facilities ||||Dusty dated furnishing All mis matched. Poor decorating and upkeep. Real shame as from the outside it is stunning. ||||Not the most welcoming of rooms. ||||All so basic and dated. The owner could make this a lot nicer and for the prices charged I think this is priority to help improve the service and rating.

We stayed in Rose Cottage on Saturday 23 March at the Orillia. The location is superb, a short bus drive out of York on the 848, you can get a return ticket for £4,. The village itself is pristine, the roads are not busy, very quiet and remote. There are no shops close by, so get your food and drink in York before you check in, unless you fancy another trip to York! The cottage itself was home from home. The decor and furnishing lovey and comfortable. Central heating and instant hot water. The shower too was a bonus - one of the best showers I've been in! We used the oven, hob and microwave without any problems, however the cutlerey was on the sparce side but I am sure if we'd asked we could have had more if we needed it. Plenty of clean towels. The bed was very comfortable. We will be going back there for another quiet weekend break for sure, but next time we will stay for longer 🙂

Stayed for one night whilst visiting York. Room small and very basic, not much room to move round. Bed was really uncomfortable. Hand held shower attachment which made showering difficult.||Friendly welcome from staff and good breakfast but very overpriced for such basic accommodation.||Moved into lovely hotel in York for 2 nights for same price.

The guest house looked lovely from the outside but the inside is not impressive. The room was ok but the bed not comfortable. There was no hair dryer in the room but we found one on the first floor landing. One mirror in the bathroom. No cupboard to hang anything just a clothes rail. At £108 for a family room this was overpriced and not to be recommended.
