Lovely hotel with great staff and beautiful food.
However, we were on a golf break and were very disappointed with the quality of the course. We had to play the same 18 holes on both days and the greens were very poor. Added to this, the pool was closed for refurbishment and we were told the spa would be available but unfortunately it wasn't.
It just took the edge off the trip.
However the staff were excellent and the food was very nice

Fantastic stay at Oulton Hall - first time away with our baby and we were made to feel welcome and were looked after brilliantly. Busy Saturday night, and Chris in the champagne bar & drawing room was super attentive and friendly, great option to dine with a more relaxed atmosphere and no need to book a table. Great food and drinks as with all the Q Hotels Collection. Perfect location to visit Leeds or York. Health club has children's swim times and family changing rooms, so didn't feel in the way with our small baby. Fabulous place that we'll be returning to!

Me and my family went for the afternoon tea experience.
The sandwich selection was quite poor, lots of tuna sandwiches, no ham options the cucumber sandwiches had too much butter and the quiche was bone dry. The scones were nice but other than that not wildly impressed with the food provided especially for the money. The service was slow and we only got offered one drink the whole time. The seating arrangement also isn’t great, low table with sofa and chairs not a proper table which makes it hard to grab the food and you’re left eating just on your lap.
Definitely been to much better and wouldn’t return.

I was dubious about staying here after reading the reviews but I was pretty impressed. The hotel itself is beautiful. The staff are all very nice. I wasnt aware of the £50 deposit I had to pay on arrival however, so I think this should be made clearer.
The champagne bar is lovely.
The room I stayed in was gorgeous with a very comfy bed. The fridge kept making a loud tapping noise though.
Pool was very small and quite crowded. It was also very cold so could definitely benefit from being heated up. The jacuzzi was cold too. The best part was the sauna where you can warm up! Showers are clean but there was no shower gel left.
I ate in the restaurant where the food was nice but didn't reckon much to the wine, and at £10 a glass I've had nicer supermarket ones.
Breakfast was good but I wasn't impressed that there were no veggie sausages out, and I had to ask for oat milk for the cereal which should have been already out really.
Overall I enjoyed my stay and would go there again.

This place is aesthetically stunning. The lobby area and the grounds were so beautiful. The location is pretty good as it is only a short drive from Leeds but there are some problems we encountered which made our visit not so great.

1. We stayed in a superior room as we wanted the bigger bed. The bed was not comfortable as it was two single mattress pushed together and connected with a mattress protector. That can be annoying for a couple on a romantic getaway.

2.We went to bed really late on one of the nights and the tap/shower only had steaming hot water coming out of it. The water was fine other times of the day but at nighttime I couldn’t shower, wash my face or brush my teeth. Which was again super annoying.

3. My partner was fine with the food but I personally found it poor for the price point. Our steak meal for two came to £120 and the steak was dry, unseasoned and overcooked. The chips were cold too. You can get a WAY better meal in Leeds for that price.

4. The breakfast was not bad but I’ve had way better breakfasts in similar priced hotels. there were queues everywhere and not fast enough to get the food out. The omelette had massive chunks of tomato’s in there (instead of finely diced) which was weird to me.

I would have given a 3star if it wasn’t for the check out experience. After the scorching hot tap water which put me in an awful mood at night, I didn’t feel well after that. I gave the second day breakfast a skip and decided to have a lie in the morning after. My partner called the reception to see if we can checkout a little later. The receptionist had no mercy at all . We even offered to pay for late check out and she said absolutely not. My partner said well we might get a little late as we need to shower as we didn’t expect to get rushed out, the receptionist told us if we were 5 minutes late is ok but if we are late 15-20 minutes then we have to pay for it. That resulted us in packing in a rush and get the hell out without being showered or ready, even though the check in for the next guest is at 3pm while check out is at 11am.

The place is beautiful but for the price point of over £500 for two nights with dinner, I would expect way more from a boutique hotel!!

This was a present for my 20th Birthday from my mum and we both came for the 10-4 spa day. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a pleasant staff member who took us to the waiting area to fill out the registration sheets. We were here for 20 minutes until someone came back to show us around to then be told if we haven’t brought correct footwear that we would have to purchase flip flops at Ā£3 each but usually footwear is provided with your robes etc on the day. The changing rooms are very small compared to the amount of people who are in the gym/spa section. As we made aware to the sauna and steam room, where the ā€˜cold plunge shower’ was situated it was clearly broken and was making that whole area wet including where you hang your robes whilst relaxing which wasn’t a pleasant experience when you came out of the sauna/steam room. The pool was okay but was very crowded and there were only some garden outdoor furniture chairs with cushions on due to the minimal space. After being around the pool, we made our way back to the waiting area at the correct time whilst we waited for someone to take us to lunch, this room was freezing and not ideal when in just a robe and flip flops - we were sat for 10 minutes until someone came to get us finally. The walk to the restaurant was through the corridors of the hotel rooms and was too far from the spa. The spa menu was minimal and offered 2 kinds of salads this area was also very cold and uncomfortable. After our food, we then went back for our treatments. After sitting in the treatment waiting area for 15 minutes after our allocated time, someone came over and said there has been some confusion and our treatment was rescheduled for a different time. The lady who made us aware was lovely and offered us a complimentary drink which she brought to us at poolside. The treatments were okay but not fully relaxing. All in all I would
not return. Very evident of quantity over quality do not book.

I want to say me and my partner have stayed here multiple times, we loved the place as it is so close to home, rooms are beautiful, spa lovely and the food is always to a good standard ( especially the pork belly)
BUT… this time unfortunately was a disaster.

Please just choose your audience.

We stayed over on the Saturday and went to go straight down to swimming to be told it’s at full capacity and we’re made to wait 25 minutes we have 2 children so can only swim at certain times,( some people were waiting a LOT longer than us) and was a lovely experience but the waiting is a little annoying.
The next day when we went to go swimming we were let in and then within 10 minutes of being in the pool told we needed to get out as the children’s swimming times were over, yes we should have looked but what is the point in having allocated swimming times for children when it’s a family friendly hotel?
If people don’t want to be around children then go to another hotel that doesn’t accommodate children?
You act like you want it to be family friendly but you don’t.
So we had to sit in a queue for the children allocated swimming times and couples were allowed to sit around the side of the pool and take up spaces but when the pool was empty on the adult only times we weren’t allowed in?
If they are so offended by children go early in the mornings or late at night or go to another hotel?
Letting us in the pool then being told to get out and we have a baby and a toddler was very distressing for them both and a time that we all were really looking forward to was ruined.
Everyone in the pool was ok with them being there as they were happy in the baby pool.
Then on the way back to the hotel room ( we had to make a quick exist in our swimming costumes as the children were hysterical) we were locked out the room the key kept flashing red and the one cleaning lady wouldn’t let us in.
I understand protocol but have some common sense?
We’re all stood there in towels and children are shivering waiting for us to get in the room crying there eyes out and your telling me you can’t let us back into the room that we’ve paid Ā£300 for?
A nice cleaning lady who I had spoken to previously in the visit let us in.
Common sense.

Ā£300 to sleep on one of the worst camp beds I’ve ever ever slept on and we travel a lot due to my partners job.
Invest in new camp beds if you charge £275 for a family room ( we paid an extra £25 for late check out)

We left the room at 12 after paying late check out but at 11.24am a full balance was taken out of my bank and I am still waiting for a full refund as we paid in cash and we still hadn’t left the hotel, maybe check we haven’t actually left the premesis before charging to our cards it’s a little offensive.

Overall disappointing for a hotel we have stayed at many times and enjoyed many times.
