Checkin was super easy, I phoned someone when I arrived and they instructed me how to get into my room. The room was a single bedroom it was small but ok for me, it was super clean towels were provided a small fridge with milk, yoghurt and some jams. Closet for clothes, a small sink in the room opening window small tv. The bed was so comfy I slept so well the 2 nights I was there. I had my own off street parking spot only enough room for one vehicle but I was lucky, it has restricted parking on the road outside which is only for registered residents so don’t park on the road but there is a supermarket car park opposite which you can park in. Location excellent close to everything. For the price I was not expecting too much but it really did deliver for me as I was out most of the time. Also there is a fantastic shoe shop opposite. The shared bathroom was opposite and always empty and again nice and clean with plenty of shampoo and soap etc.|There was also a microwave in the room which I did not use, there is no chair or table either but I knew this. The only thing which would of been handy would of been a hairdryer. I highly recommend overnight stays to anyone who is not a fussy solo traveller, will definitely stay again

Most rooms are NOT ensuite. I booked and paid extra for ensuite when I realised, but on arrival was told I didn't have an ensuite, but I could have this for the 2nd night. Breakfast was in packets in the room - not served. My bags were moved into the 2nd room in my absence and the 2nd room only had half the breakfast of the previous one and no coffee at all.
This room also had a wet patch on the floor by the bed and a lamp that didn't work.
There also appeared to be a long term guest who liked wandering about half clothed to the shared bathroom, which for a lone woman isn't ideal...
Really not the best stay but it was the ideal location for a course I was attending.

When I arrived I had to make a phonecall in order to check in. Initially there was some confusion as the owner thought she'd rang me earlier on to ask me to go to their other hotel as they were overbooked. I however had received no such call and even if I had, it wouldn't have been convenient at all for me to have been moved. The confusion was however resolved and I was given clear detailed step by step instructions about how to gain access. I was pleasantly surprised by the room and shared bathroom; it was clean and spacious. The bed was was also super comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. Now the breakfast; it was odd but I knew what to expect based on other reviews (paninis, jam, variety box of cereal, yoghurt, capri sun) but I was more than happy to embrace it. I was however disappointed to discover that the paninis seemed stale, and then I discovered that they were best before 2 days earlier. It was a let down at the end of a otherwise lovely 'overnight stay'.

Everything was fine. Arrived early due to making arrangements to travel during another annoying train strike. Contacted the property was given instructions to allow immediate access. Facilities were good, bed very comfortable. Located near to Supermarkets Aldi, Asda Sainsbury. Anything I needed was therefore at hand. Plenty if Pubs and Restaurants near by. Would stay again and would recommend to anyone.

My room smelt incredibly musty and after spending time trying to ascertain its origins it was obvious the base of the bed, headboard and mattress contain spores. So essentially my room had a mouldy bed. ||Strong musty odours are an indication of mould growth. The stairs leading up to the room smell of it too. I have had experience with mould so I know the signs. It isn't always visible especially if there's a leak somewhere, floorboards, behind walls etc. ||There does appear to be the beginnings of it forming at the back of the wardrobe. ||I had allergy-like symptoms such as headaches, sore throat, itchy eyes, particularly congestion of sinuses which consequently made my time at the property extremely uncomfortable to the point of not being able to sleep properly in the bed. I felt obliged to stay with it being fully booked and with very limited availability elsewhere. ||||It is of paramount importance to act for the health of future guests! Mould is very toxic. There seems to be damp and mould issues at their other hotel in Marple judging by the recent comment on another booking site. ||||||The ultimate letdown for me (as if the mould wasn't bad enough!) was Spencer's abysmal welcoming and behaviour (sorry just saying it as I see it!) This has been commented on in previous reviews. ||||A friendly lady answered the phone when I rang upon arrival who I am presuming was the owner, Lorraine. She allowed me to access the safe to get a key to let myself in because of the bad weather as Spencer hadn't arrived yet. I waited half an hour and that's when he came. ||||||No greeting or warm welcome just a coldly expressed "You're early" ||No, I had arranged by special request with whoever confirmed the booking to arrive between 13:00-14:00 and they happily confirmed this request by email. ||||He excused himself to the office to ring what sounded like Lorraine and expressed his unhappiness that I was there. "Tough, she will have to wait!" he responded rather rudely. I was only stood in the hallway. Appalling. ||||I showed him the email confirming the time of arrival but he kind of laughed it off and no apologies were made. Spencer went up to make up my room. When I was instructed to follow him up he didn't offer to help carry my case. He couldn't get away quick enough as soon as he showed me the bathroom and bedroom. Said nothing about contacting if there were any issues with anything. ||||I had a terrible first night's sleep with endless noise from selfish guests banging doors all night and a screaming little girl with verbally abusive parents in the house next door. Sounded like they were physically abusing her too. Never heard anything like it. I felt so concerned I very nearly contacted the police. They could be heard screaming at her again at 9:30 pm -11 that very same night. ||||I was reticent to speak with anyone about the guesthouse after reading through the many reviews and seeing how they typically respond.||||The icing on the cake was Spencer letting himself into my room on the afternoon of the second day after knocking once (if you can call it that!) and not allowing for me to answer! I could have been in a state of undress or anything being a young woman alone! ||||||To finalise. I certainly wasn't expecting the ritz for the price but I do expect it to be clean and safe. It doesn't take much to be courteous towards paying guests that are helping keep your business open especially given recent happenings. ||||An honest review. Please don't accuse me of being deceitful, nasty, or insulting either like you've accused other people who have left less than favourable reviews. Being 20 years in the business doesn't necessarily mean you're doing everything right! Standards can slip. Everything should be taken into account even the negative or neutral. It's time to wake up to the fact that your establishments have issues!

Not the best room we've stayed in by a long shot. Adequate but basic. To be fair it was clean but definitely lacked storage and surfaces to put stuff on (especially in the bathroom, annoying to have to put your toiletries either on top of loo or on the floor!)||Only 2 towels for 3 people provided & no bath mat to step onto so had to use a towel.||No mirror in bedroom.||Strange 'continental' breakfast provided, but first morning there was not enough for 3. We left a note & more was left the second time but I don't think Warburton thins or bread rolls really constitute a continental breakfast! There were bananas, cheap value yogurts & the small individual boxes of cereal which didn't satisfy my husband!

Room was perfectly OK apart from the heating, it was sweltering , it was cold outside, the room was unbearable, couldn't turn the radiators off or down, slept on top of the bedding. Bathroom even hotter ? noisy too, doors banging all night.
