A great hotel. Only needed to stay one night and paid just under £60 for three of us which was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful, beds were very comfortable and had complimentary bottled water, coffee, tea, milk, sugar and toiletries (shower gel, hair shampoo and conditioner).

Was great to have a fridge in the room and tv but didn’t need it for one night stay.
The location is amazing, an easy couple of minutes walk into York town centre.

Only tiny negative was that the shower head holder was broken and so needed to hold the shower head when taking a shower. But this is no big deal and was still wonderful to have an en suite with a shower for under £60.

Would definitely stay here again.

The pro's
Friendliness of staff, helpfulness and comfy bed.plenty of bottled water, coffee,tea,milk. Fridge great and tv was good.
Plenty of toiletries and location were excellant. We even had parking which we paid for, but didn't need to move our vehicle as the location was so good.

The con's

Decor needed updating, bathroom could of used a walk in shower. Felt like the hotel was still going through renovation stages and still needed a revamp.

Overall
accomodation was excellant for the location, as previously spent quite a bit on carparking charges. But due reason for booking as it was our 20th anniversary. We left after one night.

Great location, staff were very helpful on the phone.
Rooms were okay a bit tight on space even though there was only 3 of us.
The stairs need some repair work as my daughter cut her finger on a bit of wood that's coming away. There wasn't really any staff onsite, and if there were they were fleeting, if you needed assistance you had to ring someone, which at nearly £260 for the weekend I'd have expected a bit more. But like I said great central location and if you're not spending much time in the rooms, dies the job.

Stayed at the top floor family room. Had 2 double beds and a single bed. Nice & cosy room with a bath / shower. The bathroom was a bit small, but had little bottles of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner etc which was nice.
There was a fridge, kettle and things to make teas & coffees.
Downside was there was no lift to the top floor, so for elderly people it woudn't be ideal. For me as a younger person i didn't mind.
There was a choice of pubs near the location, and a very short walk to the city center.
Hotel parking was accessed down a 1 way lane for £7 a day which was reasonable.
For a budget hotel it was ideal for me.

We stayed in the top-floor family room. While the low ceiling in the rooftop area required constant attention and hot water for showers was only sufficient for three people, luggage space was also limited. On the positive side, the room was clean, the location was good, and the staff were friendly.

This is a review for room number 4, in OYO Diamonds Inn. Get a kettle to make tea and coffee, didn’t use though. The hair dryer wasn’t working at all. Draws were stained and dirty. There are two mirrors: one on the door of the wardrobe which is very inconvenient. and one on the wall as you enter the bathroom onto the left. The window… literally didn’t act like a window, instead it was just like having a door that led to nowhere as there was ANOTHER window behind it that couldn’t be opened. The light above the bed was useless and very badly placed, as shown in the video. The shower has mold on the bottom in the corners as well. The walls were like paper thin and could literally hear everything inside the room. Apart from those negatives only good about the stay was that we had access to YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime (NEED YOUR OWN ACCOUNT TO USE) and that the bed was considerably alright and that it’s quite close to the city centre.

The lady on the front desk was lovely, and very helpful. However, for close to a £100 I felt absolutely robbed. The room was small and outdated, and could have been cleaner or more cared about. Just as an aside, whoever painted the windows should be taken outside and shot. The mattress was old and cheap, we could feel the springs through it. The noise was horrendous, the walls are paper thin. The family next to us made about as much noise as they possibly could late into the night and in the morning. Additionally a load of workmen started thumping around and drilling in the morning. Not a very restful experience and won't be returning.

Positives first….Friendly helpful staff. Comfy beds and great location. Centre just a short walk away.Now for the negatives….Room not very clean. En-suite had shavings in front previous occupant,bin in bedroom had not been emptied,bed bases dirty and grubby looking,can hear noise from other rooms,and the worst of all was the smell of drains coming from the bathroom. Unfortunately this severely affected our stay and we would not return and do not recommend this place to stay.Also the guest handbook is just a list of things you will be charged extra for ie if you eat a takeaway in the room you will be charged £25! And so on so we didn’t feel comfortable or able to relax in case we spilt something and were charged for it!Just didn’t feel comfortable here..
