Really nice rural pub out in the countryside and right on the edge of new mills and the peaks. Visited twice in a week. Once to eat and once to drink. The steak suet pie was absolutely gorgeous. Big thick chunks of steak and suet pastry. Chips were chunky, gravy gorgeous, and plenty of fresh cooked veg. Staff were friendly and efficient.
I visited at the weekend too with the dogs and we had to sit outside but the lady behind the bar took us to an area with a heater and it kept us warm while we had a drink.
Well worth a visit if only for the gorgeous food.

What a fabulous place. Although living local had not been here for quite a while for one reason or another, but visited with friends who were over from Stafford. We went on a Sunday evening when roasts were available. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent and service quick. The portion sizes were good but we managed to leave room for delicious desserts. Would definitely recommend, and will try not to leave it to long next time.

Our favorite pub. Absolutely outstanding accommodations, food, and service. My family has visited twice now and both times were exceptional. Great location close to the Peaks District National Park which provided great hiking opportunities. After a full day we would fall asleep in their cozy rooms to the sounds of lambs bleating in the distance. We loved it.

We were allocated Room 4 in the Stable Block. Unfortunately, access is up a flight of steep steps which my wife, who has restricted mobility, found really difficult to climb. We immediately mentioned the problem to the staff, who went out of their way to enable us after the first night to move to Room 1 on the ground floor of the Block. This was slightly compact, but clean, comfortable and quiet, even although close to the road.||We enjoyed two good dinners, tasty dishes prepared from fine ingredients and served in generous portions. Breakfasts are excellent, and similarly plentiful. All staff are most welcoming and friendly, and take extra trouble to ensure guest satisfaction. ||We had decided to book at the Pack Horse Inn after reading the many, favourable reviews of previous guests, and we were not disappointed by our experience. We would be happy to stay at the Pack Horse Inn on another occasion.

We recently stayed at the Pack Horse for two nights whilst attending a family get together. It is set in a beautiful location with stunning views. We stayed in room 4 which was lovely - spotless, very comfortable bed and a bathroom with an amazing shower. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, so much choice and perfect poached eggs! The staff were all very friendly and I would highly recommend The Pack Horse, we will most definitely stay here again.

Had another lovely 3 night stay. Why do I keep coming back? because there is nothing to be critical of. Food, staff, rooms, breakfast and drinks all top drawer. Situated northend of the peak district and near enough to Manchester to make the ideal stopover. Free onsite parking, as mentioned before, this is the place to stay.

We booked in here last minute after being let down by our original accomodation nearby and boy how lucky we were! The room was lovely with a perfect view down the valley, modern amenities with everything we needed. ||The staff were fantastic and went the extra mile for us and the food was fabulous, especially the included breakfast which was way more than we could have hoped for.||I would not hesitate to recommend this place

Omg if you ever in New Mills you must try this place, me and my partner went and the food was superb, staff friendly and helpful, service was great, one of my new favourite places to eat.

I had soup and steak sandwich and everything was delicious.

Good selection of drinks at the bar. Staff were helpful and keen to please but not in your face.

Meals weren’t overpriced and I am looking forward to going again.
