This place is like the ritz. It has to be the best place in Buxton to take your bird for a luxury night wothot kids. I was chatting to the guy behind the bar while I was waited for my woman to get herself ready and he was telling me how the staff are partying all night and the managers don’t care and they join in. Wot a place this would be to work it’s so nice and clean inside and the bed was the best to treat my woman to on aniversary session. And she isn’t the smallest of girls but she is my one and only babe so I want to say thanks for the most enjoyable night we have had in a long time. We don’t get to do this often with kids but we had a gift voucher we won on a raffle. Just want to say big thankyou and your staff in the bar are top

Absolutely loved the place.
Very clean, ornate and grand and warm and toasty throughout, no drafty rooms or corridors.
Lovely mellow atmosphere to the place.
Unbelievably good food for dinner and breakfast.
Dog friendly rooms available.
Had an amazing stay, and will stay again.

A very grand building, the room was clean and huge! Great value given what we paid.

Room well stocked with tea/coffee. Breakfast was fab.

Well placed location wise just a short walk into Buxton Town.

Was almost put off by some of the reviews on here, I would suggest this is a reflection of the picky clientèle rather than the venue itself.

Part of a coach party of 30. Beautiful hotel. Unfortunately the spa pool and beauty all closed for our visit. Lovely self service breakfast with assistance from waiting staff. Delicious choice of self service evening meals with no waiting staff. Comfy well stocked bar and seating area. Good service from Dan I think, Tuesday afternoon. Contactless payment only. Our twin room was in the attic, 3rd floor with lift, strange bedroom layout. Comfy beds. I know they have beautiful bed rooms in the hotel, we just didn't get lucky.

The toilet seat was not fitted correctly and there was no bath mat and we had to use a hand towel instead. There were two bedside lamps, one was not plugged in and there was no socket for it and the other, although it appeared to be plugged in didn't work anyway. The pillows were very hard and there was a smell in the room which was noticeable. I only had about 1 hour sleep. Breakfast was busy but due to staffing shortages guests were setting their own tables and staff were struggling to clear the tables. The quality of the breakfast was ok. There was a note on the window to ask a member of staff to open it, for whatever reason! There is an extra £5 charge for parking and the overall cost was £138 for 1 night for the 1 room. The place is tired, under staffed and generally very poor quality. I will not stay there again.

Wonderful half term holiday experience at the Palace Buxton hotel.

The MAIN reason for the review was how wonderful Jane the receptionist was. Whenever you get awesome customer service I always want to ensure management somehow know what a gem of an employee they have. She's a keeper!

We had the compact room from our own choice and it would be a very tight squeeze for our small family. I asked Jane if there was any chance she could get us extra duvets etc and she tried multiple avenues even though the hotel was fully booked and house keeping was closed. I never got the extra duvets I needed but I could genuinely see how hard she tried and she was genuinely upset she couldn't fulfil the request

The pool area was wonderful although a £6 charge for adults our family and kids thoroughly enjoyed it. The extra floats and armbands on hand to use for free were awesome!

For what we paid for a night and the fun and things to do in Buxton we were very pleased but Jane needed a special shout out. God bless you and your family!

Love from the Abdullah family

Lovely Staff, fantastic Chef serving gluten free options always, can't fault this hotel at the price, Jane was fabulous as a receptionist, very helpful and attentive and Amos was great in the evening, helpful and knowledgeable but all the staff we're great especially the lady from the kitchen who sorted my gluten free toast in the morning and in the evening for the pate. Simply 'great staff'. Thank you. Tom and Rie Casey.

Poor value for money
Staff polite and helpful but not enough of them. Queues at the bar and reception - only one person on duty. Tables not ready at breakfast. 2 coffee machines broken only instant available.
Only one lift which was out of order some of the time. Not a problem for us but was for many elderly guests.
Travelling with another couple and rooms booked at same time and payed the same price. Their room was tiny hardly enough room to walk around bed. Unlike our room there was no fridge nor coffee machine. Their TV was small and no robes. How can that be fair?
Will give the palace Hotel and Spa a wide birth in the future unless its room rates are appropriate to the provision.
Good bye
