We have just come back from a week’s break in this wonderful property located in a quiet lane. It has walks and views of the sunset. Well catered for your arrival, including milk in the fridge and a fabulous chocolate cake! Quality towels, ample feather bedding and thermostatically, timed heating making it very cosy. We didn’t use the hot tub on this occasion but would in the future. Lovely approachable owners. We would definitely return.

Wow, if you need peace and quiet and a luxurious break, try Burrows Cottage. Decked out with the finest fittings and equipment, the internal space is fabulous, the rooms comfy and the open plan eating and living areas and absolute treat. Had everything you could want: woodburner fire, range oven and all the kit, American size fridge, sundeck, massive picnic bench for alfresco dining and one of the best hot tubs I've seen in years of countryside breaks. Good base to explore but you'll need a car with decent wheels! Simply great.

PART 2: Following your response whereby you say you 'fully acknowledge there was noise from a disc cutter, which lasted for a little over an hour'. The noise started with a Kango (we have a photo of it and a video of how loud the noise was) and the other noisy tools followed! As already stated, it started at 11.00am and was still going at 2.15pm when we had had enough of it. You say 'as previously discussed with you, the work was a one off task, etc which you were notified of'. We were DEFINITELY NOT NOTIFIED BEFORE THE EVENT!!!! You informed us AFTERWARDS which was too late. You said the work had been planned, so you should have informed us when we contacted you prior to arriving. We can download a video of the Kango if you would like us to...? Maybe then it will be seen why the Burrows (as you say) DID NOT live up to our expectations.

IF YOU ENJOY HEARING A KANGO, ETC NEXT TO THE PROPERTY....
PART 1: We booked Burrows holiday cottage in Venn Ottery and arrived on 02.08.24. Part way during the week as it was a nice day, we decided to stay at the property during the day. However, the owners found it acceptable to employ workmen to use a Kango within a few feet of where we were staying (drilling a channel across the driveway) which started at around 11.00am. Being fed up with the noise, we had to go out at 2.15pm as it was still going on. The owners did not inform us of these, apparently, planned works before we arrived (they had our mobile number prior to arriving) and nor did they advise us when we met them just after we arrived. Sykes, their agents, have to be the worse agency to get through to or to return your calls. It has taken Sykes 3 weeks (though maybe due to the owner not responding) to get back to us about this. Due to the circumstances, we felt we were entitled to a goodwill gesture/compensation - Sykes have (at last) contacted me today to say the owners of Burrows will not be offering any gesture/compensation. We have attached a photo taken from the property - we also have a video of the racket!

We had the delight of staying at Pebblebed cottages for a weekend recently. We stayed in Burrows, it was a lovely weekend away. Very clean, tidy and in an absolutely lovely area. Our hosts Richard and Sarah were brilliant, making us feel comfortable and welcome. Wouldn't hesitate to go back again!

Just last week a group of us stayed at The Burrows. The space was just as described and exceeded our expectations. The cottage was extremely clean, comfortable, spacious and in a beautiful private setting. Use of the hot tub was a luxury! It had everything we needed and more, with Richard and Sarah being excellent hosts. We would definitely stay again!

Another dreamy stay at Burrows! Truly the only place I can ever feel peaceful. Burrows really is a special cottage, it has a big heart and you feel at home as soon as you open its beautiful white doors. Spent a thoroughly enjoyable week in the Burrows which was comfortable and welcoming despite the changeable weather. Sarah and Richard were on hand to make sure we had everything we needed. A great location for exploring the area and the hot tub has the perfect way to end each day. Highly recommended !!!

We have just come back from a stay at Pebblebed Cottage. We rented both Apple Mill and Burrows, both barns are on the same farm in Venn Ottery, East Devon and conveniently located in the countryside and close to the coast. We enjoyed stargazing in the hot tubs and cozy afternoons by the wood burners - both a real treat. Amazing bedding and spacious rooms. Not a detail is forgotten. Thank you very much Sarah!
