Stayed here 2 nights for a work trip. The room was fine, if a little dated, but had everything you need a was comfortable. The staff were really friendly and happy to chat to you. The menu was really nice with plenty of choice, my colleagues really enjoyed their meals but I found my chicken a little tough but was still ok. The breakfast was nice and freshly cooked with plenty of choice. It’s situated right next to the train station and just a short walk to the town. I would definitely stay here again.

Went with family for my birthday meal. Food was absolutely exceptional, three of us had the carvery and three chose off the menu. No complaints from anyone and we all said we would visit again. They were even nice enough to give us some carvery for our dog. Definitely recommend.

Charlotte was amazing! Never felt more welcome. We come last minute for unexpected meal and she accommodated us without any issues. Highly recommend.

We've been many times before & have always enjoyed our food, especially the carvery. We haven't been in a while & were keen to return. I asked to order a child's size carvery (which I have done everywhere for the last 18 months) due to surgery which has resulted in a much smaller portion size. I was met initially with a "no because it's for 12 years & under". I proceeded to show my medical alert card & this was shown to the manager which is reasonable, to be told that this once it would be allowed but not again. This is the FIRST place in eighteen months this has not only been questioned like that, but also refused. It felt to me this was about money and greed. My nieces attend regularly and are happily allowed an adult size carvery. Sadly I probably won't return because of this.. it would not only be a waste of food, but money too if I was to purchase an adult size anything. I was with three others who all ordered adult size meals and two puddings so by meeting my dietary needs they wouldn't have lost our on much money. Sad really as it was a place I really enjoyed going to previously, but won't be back. |Food was lovely, it was very busy and very noisy so my hard of hearing husband struggled at times.

Earlier this week, my friend, her dog and I spent 2 nights at the Pen Mill Hotel. It was our first stay at the hotel and I am writing this review because from the very first moment we stepped into the premises right up to our departure, we were made to feel so welcome (including my friend’s dog who received loads of fuss and treats including bone shaped biscuits at breakfast!) |Our rooms were very comfy, cosy, clean and well equipped with a good supply of teas/coffee (inc Nespresso machine), biscuits, bottled water, plenty of thick fluffy towels, a room safe, (loads of plug sockets), hair dryer, how to access hair straighteners, even a hot water! etc, etc. |We found ALL the staff we came into contact with to be really friendly and attentive - you could also see that there was a ‘family feel’ amongst the staff themselves. |We ate in the restaurant and had breakfast on both days and the attention to the presentation of the food was super! I wish I had taken photos to share - haha! |Even though we were staying mid week and in early January the restaurant was busy (we were advised to book a table and I could see why). There is a good sized car park adjacent to the premises and a lovely park literally just across the road. |Superb customer service and a very happy and relaxed (but attentive) vibe. We will definitely be returning soon - thank you to all at the Pen Mill Hotel.

We didn't stay, we only had a meal but this was absolutely delicious.
Very friendly staff with a prompt service. It was very busy so make sure you book your table. Very pleased will come back again.

Stopped for carvery by chance after shopping, and the staff were very helpful. They fitted us In last minute. Carvery was the best we've had in a long time. Very hot and cooked to perfection . A wide selection and all well presented . The staff were very friendly . Will definitely be back .

Over the year I stay in many hotels with my job. This has to come out top in many ways.|The rooms clean warm comfortable with added touches.|The food excellent every meal has been exceptional.|The jewel in the crown are the management and staff.|The staff are professional, caring and very welcoming. It’s so nice to see their interaction with each other a very strong supportive team who have obviously had good robust training from the management. Would return again if in the area for work thank you for making my week a very positive experience
