Visited as a couple to take part in 2 running events. Location was very good for our needs. Our room was ready as soon as we checked in at 2pm. The room was very clean with a fresh clean smell. Extra tea and coffee bags were provided by the helpful and cheerful staff. The cleaning staff even found my mobile phone as I was checking out and returned it to me. Great service
Will recommend the Penny Hedge to our friends and would return there without hesitation. We are already booked into The Vine Hotel, Stafford next month 😀.

Stayed here twice, the staff are really friendly and helpful.

The room was clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable.

The price for a night was reasonable. I stayed on a busy Saturday night and a weekday.

The food, although expensive, was amazing. The chips steak and burgers were great.

Also, the breakfasts were better than expected. the only downside was the coffee.

I hope to stay again soon.

My wife and I were travelling with our two grandchildren aged 9 & 6, the room was ready on time, clean, well organised, and big enough for the four of us. Check in was a breeze, and the breakfast that we had pre booked was fantastic value, at £8 per adult and £2.50 per child, who could pick whatever they wanted from the selection of hot food, after first enjoying from the selection of pastries, cereal and juices. The staff from the landlord, landlady, cleaners and other associated members were all most helpful and friendly, would definitely stay again!

Parking not an issue and short walk downhill into Whitby. Room clean and functional. Service for our evening meal on the first night of our stay was very slow even though the restaurant was not busy we had to wait over an hour plus it was cold in there with no heating. A prior warning would have been welcome about the delay or an apology or even complementary drinks. When the food eventually arrived it was OK. The desert arrived much quicker. We ate there on the second night of our stay and the service had improved but the room temperature was cold again. This is the reason for the 4 rather than 5 star ratings.

It exceeded our expectations entirely. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and kind. The breakfast was lovely. The hotel room we were in was in a separate building to the pub meaning it was nice and quiet

Basic rooms, dirty kettles. Very expensive bar and possibly the worst breakfast I’ve ever experienced, which was charged as an additional expense despite arranging for bed and breakfast at the time of booking.

Very easy to find, right next to bus stops in to town, lots of shopping facilities near by, very pleasant and polite staff on arrival, rooms were lovely and clean, plenty of space, and not to noisy outside.

Good car park , clean hotel etc, only issue was food was unavailable Thursday evening. Chef taken to hospital which we understand, health first , but a simple text or email we could have stayed in town and changed plans easily. Unfortunately walked back to hotel to find out no food at 8:30.
Which ruined our evening, takeaway pizza , instead of beer wine and evening meal etc.
Simple communication and we would understand.
