For the price, it’s brilliant! Rooms are basic but have everything you need. Fresh bed sheets everyday. More attention could be on cleaning but nothing terrible. No real service as they leave you to it with your own key. Location is amazing! Right in the heart of Canterbury! I would definitely come again.

My daughter and myself stayed at the lodge for two nights over the bank holiday weekend .The location was great as we were attending a function at Canterbury Christchurch University. The room was clean, very comfortable and of a good size. Service was attentive and accommodating, eg we asked for a fan for the room and it appeared quickly.|Unfortunately we were not aware until after we booked that check in and cooked breakfast (which was good quaility) were available at another site 10 minutes walk away. As our train as cancelled and our arrival delayed this was an issue when we arrived.|Due to the central location it was noisy at night.

We booked this place because it had a quadruple room at a reasonable price. As stated on the booking information, the key was picked up from a sister hotel at 18 The Friars. Check in was straightforward and friendly. |There was one double bed and two fairly narrow single beds in the room. The double was comfortable, but had a loose bed head which made a knocking sound if you were not careful. (I forgot to mention this to the staff, as I’m sure it would be easy to fix). |Breakfast was served at the nearby hotel, and was quite adequate. Gluten free options were available, and appreciated as one of our party has Coeliac disease. |We stayed 2 nights in a comfortable, well priced, central hotel. If you are not expecting the Ritz, you will be happy. :). |

Staying at Hawkes Lane Lodge was great, very comfortable. Our room was very clean & we had all the much needed tea making filsilities selection of teas & coffee + hot chocolate. Even all the necessary bits for the shower room too. It's minutes from the busy city so well located. We will happily come back here as the staff are lovely & very helpful. Canterbury is a wonderful place to visit, so much to see we will be going back.

Convenient location for a confortable stay. We were staying at the family room and it was spacious as well as the bathroom. Quiet location few steps from the city centre. ||The fact that you have to check-in in a different building 10 minutes walk from your accommodation might be a problem. Even we had booked for a room without parking place, hotel people kindly offer us a place without extra charge to the main building. ||For Breakfast there are two options, at the building of your accommodation a non-cooked breakfast and as an alternative at the main building a very tasty with big variety cooked breakfast.

First of all fantastic customer service . Our booking from an aggregator site wasn’t communicated properly and our request for a twin was lost in the ether. This was immediately corrected at no cost to us by providing an extra single room . Thank you! The rooms in this annex to the main hotel are spacious and well decorated. Shower very disappointing, towels big and fluffy though! Tv reception terrible and mattresses far too soft for our liking. Good to see the front being painted as we left. Having to take the 5 minute walk back to the hotel for the hot breakfast is a bit sub optimal . Very central but quiet location . Would return .

Note this is the Hawks Lane Lodge, which is a few hundred yards from the main Castle Lodge Hotel. ||||I stayed there with my family. The staff were helpful and friendly, with a continental breakfast provided unless you want to walk to the main hotel. The noise for breakfast starts at 8am so you may not sleep to late if you're on the ground floor. ||||Despite the central location, overall I felt the the accommodation was a bit expensive (Β£190/night) - it needed a bit of a makeover, especially the bathroom, which looked through a net curtain to a central courtyard - this means that you largely have to keep the curtains shut all the time. The power shower didn't really work, a trickle more than powerful and fluctuating temperature. The bathroom was a bit cold and dated.||||The room, whilst spacious enough, did feel like it need some TLC; upgrade in mattresses and decor.||||Otherwise, if you're looking for somewhere just a few minutes from the main Canterbury buzz, but not have too much external noise, this may be ok for you.||||There is a single, car parking space at the front of the hotel, which if you're lucky you may manage to bag. The main Castle Lodge has 8 or so spaces too, but you'd have to be early to get one of those too. ||||For me, overall, no repeat visit.

We were a bit confused at first on why the reception would be in a different place than the lodge itself. However, it is literally a four minutes walk, so it's really alright.

The lodge was lovely. It had what we needed; free WiFi, soap, a lot of towels! A bed, blow dryer, etc.

The breakfast was so lovely! Besides the usual hostel breakfast of toast, marmalade, cereal, tea, coffee... They also offered big breakfasts. We had eggs Benedict and they were great!

Also, after we checked out, they allowed us to leave our bags while we wandered before leaving.

Would totally stay there again.
