Liked: Nice surroundings, lovely cafe and shop on site. Within walking distance of Falkland.

Disliked: We’d booked a ‘hard standing and grass pitch’, but that’s not what we got. We were pitched on grass. The ‘hard standing’ is a separate section for when there is heavy rain. It consisted, however, of tree bark thrown over mud, so would probably be worse in heavy rainfall!

There is one shower in each toilet block and one in the disabled toilet. That’s just not enough for the size of the site.

The toilets are used by the shop/cafe users during opening hours and weren’t cleaned in any of the time we were there. It might be worth closing the toilet block as the cafe closes and giving it a clean for the sake of the campers, who are paying a lot for not very much.

It’s a shame, because with a little more thought and input this could be a great site.

Liked: Peaceful setting looking out over Lomond Hills.
Friendly staff.
Basic amenities
Organic shop onsite
A walk up Lomond Hills is definitely worth the effort.

Disliked: Only one shower and toilet per gender in the ablution block at the camp shop, about 4 mins walk from campground field. Two portaloos in the field were ok. Kitchen facilities small and only useable by one person at a time. I think for the cost this was overpriced, as much as it was nonetheless a pleasant place to stay and handy to explore the beautiful small town of Falkland.

Liked: Excellent site with all the facilities you need for camping. We had a large tent. The field was spacious and the allotted pitches gave us plenty of room. They all came with firepits, which we used both nights. Lovely forest trail walk to Falkland. Would highly recommend.

Disliked: Shop was very expensive. £7.99 for kindling was over the top.

Liked: Whole place was peaceful and pretty. We got caught in very heavy rain but the camp site drained off well, no puddles! Which was really surprising because it did seriously bucket it down for a couple hours.

Stayed in the polytunnel for a few hours the next day while the kids played which was really lovely after such a wet day previously, even managed to toast some marshmallows like we had told the kids we would do!

Staff in cafe and shop all utterly wonderful, super helpful and food at the cafe was brilliant.

Already planning a return camping trip with another friend and their children, hopefully will do 2 nights this time and then we can walk to Maspie Den and the local town.

Disliked: Okay so the car park is quite far up from the campsite. There are wheelbarrows provided which is actually really clever and helpful, but the campsite to the car was too far for my littlest to wait alone in one spot or the other and she couldn't take walking back and forth so I took my car down to the verge and parked up to unload and reload as quickly as I could. I really hope this was okay, no one said anything and there was plenty space for cars and tractors to pass. There's hard ground as you enter the camp field, I was on that - there's a sign to say to stay on the hard ground and not park on the field, so technically I did as said, but still hoping no one was annoyed and that I used the space correctly.

To be honest I'd do that again next time too and as I am planning to come back within the next couple months I'm going to double check that I can park on the hard ground again with staff. I'll have more company next time so we can watch the little easier so if it's a problem I can use wheelbarrows.

Liked: Beautiful scenery, quiet campsite with excellent facilities, set apart from the farm shop & coffee shop - which both were amazing. Plant nursery with knowledgeable staff. All wood buildings, skilfully decorated. Great atmosphere. Perfect for nature lovers.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike. Some pitches might not be completely level.

Liked: Absolute gem of a site. Beautiful, well equipped, and safe.

Absolutely beautiful place with an onsite cafe and organic shop. Toilets were clean and shower was hot, and the campers wash spot had hot running water too.

The site is right on the Falkland estate with some absolutely stunning walks. I stopped here on route to elsewhere and ended.spemding the whole day walking the trails before leaving. I'll absolutely be back!

Liked: Everything! The staff were really friendly and helpful. The pitch was a good size. The facilities were really good and very clean. We didn't use the play area because it was raining but it looked really good and the kids were disappointed not to use it. We got the kids hot chocolate in the morning and they were very impressed with it, that's a big achievement with our fussy children!

Disliked: We were on the furthest pitch from the toilets and it was quite a distance from the tent if anyone needed the toilet at night.

The camping is useful but for bike packers rather difficult. there is very little space for tents and not tables or seats. I was told "not to get in the way" of clients of the farm. Otherwise the shower was clean.
