Visited for breakfast. It was fully booked so we chose to sit outside (our own fault as we didn't realise how popular it was)! Had a breakfast wrap and batch. Both went down very well. Our waiter was wonderful. Very friendly. We will be back (but we'll remember to book 😂)

Amazing place! Food is always so good and it’s in a lovely part of the city right by the canal side. I have eaten here many times, both my boyfriend and myself have intolerances and we’ve never had any issues, the staff are very knowledgeable and really friendly and the menu is clearly marked. They even update their menu to swap to items with less allergens in them if they can. For example we never used to be able to have the black pudding but they’ve since found a new supplier and it’s gluten free. I have recently attended a vegan evening (food in the photos) and it did not disappoint!!!!!! I can’t recommend this cafe enough and I always look forward to my visits here. Thank you!!!

Loved our stop here. Very warm & inviting and great gluten-free options. Dogs inside is not our favourite thing but the other strengths of this cafe more than compensate.

A lovely cafe with a fantastic choice on the menu, very friendly helpful staff. Food was freshly cooked quick service, drinks were excellent and hot.

Went here as the location was good. Ordered English breakfast, food had a weird smell including the cutlery. Egg was burnt, toast wasn't toasted properly, tomatoes were just chopped and placed on the plate. Lots of oil. List goes on. Won't be returning.

Lovely bustling café beside the canal. Several breakfast options, reasonably priced. Hot and cold drinks. Nice coffees although I'd rather have slightly more coffee in a Mocha. Friendly helpful staff. Welcoming relaxed atmosphere

The Playwrights is a lovely little cafe with brilliant views and plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the Coventry Canal Basin. It has great coffee, well cooked food, and excellent service from experienced waiting staff, who really seem to care. We were especially impressed by the vegan selection on the menu, and some of the little touches of detail, such as home made coleslaw, and a choice of tomatoes (roast or plumb). Our only suggestion would be to upgrade the bread used for toast.
