This hotel has been newly refurbished. From Colleen's warm welcome, to Tracey's friendly service, to Eleanor's warm, perfectly prepared breakfast, our stay was superb. The rooms were immaculate, with everything provided. We'll definitely visit again. 10 out of 10!

The Premier Inn Braintree Freeport is by far my favourite Premier Inn.

Always service with a smile.

Stayed here around 10 times now, and as always, the staff were pleasant and always engage in conversation.

The beds were sooooooo comfortable and the deluxe room was nice and spacious.

Breakfast was served with a smile and was cooked to order and delivered to the table still hot - not always the case at some Premier Inns.

Of the two Premier Inns in Braintree this is our favourite.

Unfortunately premier inn has let this hotel to deteriate,from the outside all the paint work is falling off and looks very tired almost to the point I thought I had turned up to a hotel that had been closed, the room itself was marginally better but had mould around the window, carpet looking very tired, however the worst bit was the bathroom! The smell was horrendous, it smelt of old wet mops! We had to keep the door closed with the extractor fan running so the smell didn't filter into the bedroom.There is no toilet brush, the soap dispenser bottle was dirty and looked rusty as it was a refillable bottle. It's a real shame premier inn has let this hotel go to ruins, on the plus side it's location was perfect and the staff were pleasant. Thanks to the lady on reception on checking out as she offered us a free breakfast and explained the problem with the bathroom ventilation, however we declined the breakfast as hygiene didn't seem the best. A full refund would of been more acceptable, so if you're planning a nice night away I highly recommend you give this hotel a miss.

Food Is lovely! Tracey is the loveliest waitress she is so efficient and authentic and Eleanor makes the best poached eggs ever!!! The receptionists are also really welcoming and warm and we had a great laugh with the one with a European accent sorry I didn’t catch her name!

Newly refurbished rooms are very nice. Super comfy bed (as always). Great night’s sleep. Very convenient for Stansted airport.

Stayed here for a wedding with a big group staff were very helpful and attentive got checked in quickly. Rooms were clean and breakfast was lovely very good customer service too.

An absolute health hazard is the only way I can describe this hotel. We booked to stay from Christmas Eve for 5 nights whilst visiting family for Christmas... We didn't even stay. We got to our room and from the second we got into the room, we knew immediately we could not stay in this room. Black mold everywhere, grease and holes all over the net the curtain, shower was covered in rust and mold, sink countertop was filthy and the heater was covered in rust and wouldn't turn off so we walked into a room that was just engulfed with the smell of burning metal. We went to reception and were given a second room... This one was worse. Black mold all around the window and along the shower curtain, build up all around the shower and sealant and the taps were covered in blue rust. The heater was also the same as the first room. We decided there and then we needed to get a refund and leave. The receptionist couldn't refund us and told us we had to contact gust services after Christmas. She ended up altering our stay from 5 nights to 4 so that money would at least come back and we'll have to deal with getting the rest back for the 5th night when they're open again. I have disabilities
and health conditions that this room would have caused massive issues with, to the point I could have ended up in hospital if I had not noticed anything. Completely ruined our Christmas eve. We ended up at the Holiday Inn nearby and thank god for them! Super clean room which is twice the size of the ones at this place, wonderful service (we were given chocolates, minced pies and hot chocolate on arrival) free breakfast (which is delicious and lots of options including gluten free!), bar is open until midnight and they have looked after us! So if you're looking for a hotel in this area, go there instead! Avoid this Premier Inn like the plague, mainly because you will probably catch the plague of you stay here!
