Clean and cosy rooms, extremely friendly staff, the dinner menu was a tad small but not bad at all. Compliments to the chefs the breakfast was gorgeous it all came out quickly and we didn’t have to wait long. Very accommodating hotel I would definitely come again

We booked this hotel for the night as we were visiting family and have stayed at many Premier Inns before so knew what to expect. We were however slightly disappointed again. The room and bed was fine, bit tired but fine and clean. However the beefeater next door has now been taken over by Premier Inn themselves and was going through a change over so evening menu was extremely limited and choice of drinks was terrible, we were the only people in the restaurant and the lack of atmosphere meant we had one drink (I struggled to find something to have) and left to go to a little place around the corner.||At breakfast we were asked if we were having cooked and when we said yes we were asked to pay extra! Apparently now you only pay for continental on line and if you require the cooked you have to pay extra when you arrive, we had not realised this so it was a bit of a shock, however we wanted it so paid the extra £2 each and were glad we did as the continental did not have much choice!||It would be good if Premier Inn let their customers know if the place was in a transition stage so you are aware it's not like the same old brand we all know and loved anymore!

The staff were wonderful and welcoming, the bed was comfortable. But I got the impression that Premier Inn had forgotten that they owned this site. Renovations are long overdue at this site especially in the restaurant which was the scruffiest dirtiest most run down Beefeater / Premier Inn co branded restaurant I've ever been in. There's no way that Premier Inn will choose to film their next ad or TikTok post at Premier Inn Colchester Cowdray Avenue (A133) hotel!

Stayed for 1 night. The hotel reception staff were very helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us.
Had food next door and the staff were fantastic, especially the bar and waiting staff - will stay again and highly recommend!!

We arrived at the premier inn and was a bit early so went for a drink next door in the beefeater was a little disappointed that we had to look for someone to serve us and how run down it was .We were then told half of the food was not available and no bookings were not being taken .
After speaking the the amazing Denise on reception she recommended a pub to go to for tea and wow it was amazing.
It is always lovely to be welcomed by a friendly face and Denise was that every time we came to reception .

Quite a dated Premier Inn in need of a refresh but staff were very helpful as the room was uncomfortably warm and air conditioning wouldn't blow cold so we moved rooms. Beefeater next door was VERY disappointing very shabby and very poor selection for continental breakfast...only 3 croissants and one muffin and none to replace them

Came for a wedding, all AirBnB's were too expensive, around another £50 a night! ||||I'll be honest, just need a place to sleep and keep my bags that was near the station but was blown away! Clean room that could really sleep three, lovely bath and shower in the bathroom, staff were incredibly friendly and polite! All very reasonably priced!||||If I find myself back in Colchester again in the future, I will 100% be staying here!

I couldn't fault it tbh .even down to me accidently booking 2 breakfasts for my late husband and Phil I think his name was trying to refund it .very sweet staff lovely stay clean good breakfast thankyou .reasonably priced and I liked the quiet in the restaurant it was Sunday evening so I imagine that's why
