Jessica (duty manager) and Rachel (in the restaurant) did an amazing job. Jess was very welcoming from the moment we checked in, all the way to us getting a dinner in the hotel in the evening. The place is very clean, the aircon works well. The food is tasty and the meal deal is a great value for money. The place is not far off from the castle which is a must visit. All in all, very happy with the place and I can highly recommend it.

Having stayed in at least 15 different premier inn’s since the start of the year I can honestly say this has been the friendliest and best yet. Every single staff member was fantastic. The breakfast chef on 27/05 was brilliant and was on top of everything even offering me options of different ways to have egg’s, definitely felt like nothing was an issue. I’ve unfortunately encountered some un-welcoming breakfast staff but this time round it was a breath of fresh air and it really feels like they care about their jobs. ||Receptionist on 31/05 evening was incredibly welcoming after an awful travel day it was nice to have a friendly face greet you and welcome you to the hotel as opposed to someone just checking you in and throwing a key over the table at you. ||I’ve stayed in “fancier” hotels and have had worse experiences than here. Would recommend as a first option in Colchester any time.

Clean comfortable and friendly hotel. Bedding and room perfect. Very very nice staff. So helpful. Breakfast nice. Orange juice superb. Evening meals, nicely cooked, but tasteless. Easy access to High street. Staff couldn't do enough for me, or be friendly.

Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Good location. The staff were friendly and attentive, so a big thank you to them. |If only the free WiFi operated at the same professional level. The WiFi is DIRE and we were told the £5 upgrade wasn’t much better. So please Lenny, can you sort it out?

Well presented hotel with Great parking if you can get on.||||The staff really need to learn some customer service skills.||||Asked for extra pillows for the 4 of us to be told that there was 2 extra in the room. We said we knew this and then when we were given 2, delivered to the room they again pointed out that we had 2 spare already. I then had to say there were 4 heads so we did actually need the extra 2. Felt like they didn't want to give us any.||||Tried to book breakfast, on arrival we were told we needed to book breakfast as they get full but we waited till the next day. Sign up in reception saying that it was advised that we book breakfast but they wouldn't let us? When I pointed out the sign they took it down and said that they don't take bookings?||||When we went down for breakfast they asked for our room number, they couldn't find us then explained we should have booked in but as we were early we were fine. They couldn't understand how we couldn't book breakfast at reception. ||||The room was compact for a family of 4. Normally have a bit of room to get out at the side but the room was so small my wife had to climb out of the bottom of the bed. Never experienced this before.||||Stayed in lots of premier inns over the years but this has been the worst customer service from all that we have stayed in across the country.

We had just one night in room 102. |Rear of the hotel with a view of the car park. Handy if you need to keep an eye on your car. We arrived by train and it's a good 15 minute walk.|Room is standard. We had them 'twin' the room and that large comfy bed isn't as comfy as a single. |The air conditioning is loud and refused to switch off. It did go off, but came on of its own accord. I wear earplugs when travelling so I wasn't unduly disturbed.|Shower is a walk in which is a plus. Very good job it did too.|Breakfast is as expected and I found it very good. All the staff we met were very nice.|I would return if in the area.

We stayed for one night in a premier plus room. The facilities of the room were not up to a modern standard with the only shower being a fixed head over the bath with very high sides (this is hardly suitable for anyone over 70). The power sockets were limited (none on right side of bed) and no USB connections. The room smelt of stale tobacco and the carpet was stained.||I hate to think what a standard room was like. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was acceptable. At the price charged the room was much below the expected standard. Staff, when available in the evening, were rather negative with any request.

We booked the premier deluxe room mainly for the fridge for my daughters milk to be kept cold. Room itself was lovely fairly clean few minor things like carpet wasn't the cleanest but nothing to put us off. However the fridge wasn't even plugged in so had to try find that eventually got it switched on but woke up in morning and wasn't cold and all milk had gone off so bit of disappointment in that sense as paid extra specifically for that and didn't even work and was checking out in morning. Hotel could do with more staff members as prior to arriving days before emailed to check cot was in room no answer so called over 6 times and still no answer. When we got there no one was on reception so had to wait a while eventually someone came to answer the buzzer. Was great location for hotel and nice inside just more staff would help them alot.
