Fantastic breakfast, made fresh as we ordered! Everything was delicious, great way to start our day! ||Staff were very helpful, Andy the chef was great and came to check if everything was okay with our breakfast - even gave us some pastries to take away for our journey!

Friendly staff all round, easy check in process. All service from the 3 women working came with a smile, Hollie, Minnu and Nelima. Food was very good too. Filled the 2 big lads up. One even had room for a sundae and licked the glass once finished. ||Bedrooms are spacious and the shower was a good pressure and good temperature.

I usually rate Premier Inn's highly as I love the brand but my gosh the room was boiling 24oc on the thermostat! That coupled with busy A road and 24hr Services adjacent meant window open wasn't pleasant and barely brought the temp down as window only opens a few inches. I concluded that the heat is generated from the hundreds of bulbs in the room (old style ones) and as it's dark early you kinda need to use them! Sadly I didn't get a lot of kip which is always guaranteed usually owed to their fab mattresses but the temp environment hijacked it šŸ™

Good points: Nice continental breakfast and bath in rooms.

Sadly I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Staff were so helpful! Stayed here for a couple nights whilst working and the ladies on the desk were top tier. The rooms were fine, no air conditioning but this is standard with premier inn. Breakfast was also great.

Would not use again. We booked a standard room a few months back which states you must pay in full at the point of booking, which we did. On arrival we were told that there was an additional charge and we had only paid a deposit. The staff were quite rude and not at all helpful. Even after showing the staff on their own website the rate we had paid we were told "no, you won't get a room here at that price" - (it's not exactly the Hilton).|Save the hassle and avoid.

AVOID - they are incorrectly overcharging guests. The room was standard for a premier inn and the location could be considered convenient which is why we booked this hotel - although these are the only small positives of Premier Inn Hemel Hempstead West and on consideration there are other equally conveniently located hotels which we will use next time. ||We booked the hotel around 2 months in advance at the cost of Ā£39, choosing the standard rate option to pay in full at the time of booking. On Friday 18th October we had travelled from Newcastle but were met with the reception desk stating we couldnā€™t be checked in - it took several members of staff to come to the conclusion that the reason being for this was that there was an outstanding remaining balance left to pay and that the payment we had made when booking was only a ā€˜depositā€™. ||Firstly, the premier inn website doesnā€™t even offer the option of paying a ā€˜depositā€™ - for this can be confirmed by a simple look into their website to see ALL booking types including the standard rate booking which we chose, take the payment in FULL at the time of booking (or for flexi rate it would be pay in full at time of booking online or pay in full at the hotel). So to the member of staff at the reception asking her colleague to explain to us what ā€œa deposit meantā€ perhaps they should consider that the confusion we had is actually over why we were being told our payment was only a deposit when we were aware we had already paid in full. Our booking confirmation confirmed total payment and that full Ā£39 was taken out of our bank account. Unfortunately, it seems the staff at this premier donā€™t seem to know their own policy or how to navigate their own website. ||Additionally, the staff were incredibly patronising and did not consider that the error was on their part and did no investigation into this. Stating their rationale that it mustā€™ve only been a deposit because it isnā€™t possible to get a hotel room for Ā£39. Whilst this may be true for a 5 star hotel in Central London, this isĀ a Premier Inn next to the A41 service area with views of the back of McDonaldā€™s. The website actually shows that if you book 2 months in advance - like we did, currently the price for December is Ā£35 so actually cheaper than we paid. We had tried to share all the email confirmations, even directing them to their own company website showing them the rate of Ā£35, however staff continued to be rudely dismissive and demand we pay additional costs and that there was no other option. ||After travelling 5 hours with a very young child and booked plans (that we were subsequently late for due to the checking in issue) we felt no other option than to pay the additional fee. Despite paying our actual booking total plus an additional fabricated fee, it was clear that customer service was not something included in the price.||If Premier Inn are to advertise and allow bookings to go through for rooms at a cost of Ā£39 they should honour this when people book and purchase this price, rather than attempt to charge more at check in after travelling hundreds of miles, when guests are essentially left vulnerable to any fabricated price increases. Surely not an ethical way to treat customers. I would also hope that staff will have more training on customer service and use a bit more understanding and common sense if an incident like this were to occur again. ||Overall, I would not recommend and will not be returning. For those reading this review and considering staying at this hotel or any Premier Inn I urge you to reconsider.

Easily one of the nicest premier inns Iā€™ve stayed in, and this is in no small part due to the staff. Andy the chef was so good looking after our sonā€™s allergy needs. The food was great, the rest of the staff were lovely and the rooms were clean and comfy.
