This review is prior to our stay. I accidentally put the wrong date on our visit. The staff were very helpful in changing this promptly and with no quibble. The lady on the reception phone was very helpful and polite given the late hour.

I usually stay at Holystone en-route to and from The Highlands. Guaranteed a clean and tidy room, comfy bed resulting in a great night's sleep, plenty of hot water and a good meal. Wifi wasn't great on this visit - I usually don't have a problem, whether it's because I was at the very far end of the first floor corridor or not? Have an evening meal and breakfast in The Cookhouse next door - being a solo female traveller, I sometimes feel a bit awkward eating by myself in some restaurants but always feel comfortable in The Cookhouse. I always go for a meal deal and have never been disappointed with my evening meal or breakfast. Excellent value for money and good quality food.

Really nice and clean hotel with helpful staff. They are doing a lot of work to bring the hotel up-to-date, but it’s still very clean. It’s a good place to stop as it’s in a residential place, The area is very clean, there is a pub right next door and if you don’t mind a good 10 minute walk is even a small shopping centre

Just returned from a weekend at the Holystone premier inn.
I was met by friendly and helpful staff that greeted us and directed us to our room. The room was clean, tidy and well aired. The bed was amazing best sleep I've had in ages. That mattress could be on Santa's list this year. The restaurant across the way had nice food. Breakfast staff friendly and helpful but unfortunately from the minute we went in at night felt there was an uncomfortable atmosphere, maybe just us. As I said couldn't fault the food just the service at night was a bit slow. Over all had a good weekend and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I can not explain how good this premier inn was, I couldn't get out of bed because it was so comfy. The best bit was probably the warm shower bath the baylis and Harding made it even better. The heating was on the perfect setting for us to relax and get snuggled up in the bed sheets.

On arriving, I was annoyed. I got out of the car and approached the door. The door was the type that needed to be pulled. I am disabled and can not open these doors. Reception had a few people in, so I had to wait outside. It was cold and getting dark. For some reason, my Carer decided to get all the luggage out of the car, thinking that I would have been in the warm reception area. Once inside, one of the recipient staff asked if I was ok. I snapped at him about having to wait outside. It wasn't his fault. Reception was clean and bright. . He booked us in and rushed around, and let us in the inner door to the rooms.| The room was clean and spacious as I had booked an acceptable room.|There was only a low bath with an overhead shower. I did know that but all accessible rooms should have a wet room or a walk-in shower. The room didn't have any USB ports which is a must these days. Most people have mobiles, tablets, and laptops. For some reason, I had brought 2 plugs that a USB lead can plug into. Thank goodness as we had are phones and tablets. |On looking around the room there was some pictures on the wall these where bright and lovely pictures but the pictures had large splits down the sides. It would have been better to have no pictures. Apart from these areas I have mentioned the room was fine. |The room we had was very noisy as the room was opposite the door leading upstairs and into reception so everyone needs to pass the door.|On going out to breakfast there was a few people standing outside the door smoking. I have breathing problems and do not want to breath in everyone's smoke. This is a common problem at most places because the designated smoking area is just outside the doors. |We went across the way to the restaurant, which again had manual doors. This wasn't a problem because my Carer was there with me. We were greeted nicely and asked if we had been to this restaurant for breakfast before. We said no and the lady showed us where everything was then showed us to a table. The breakfast was lovely. The price had gone up, but everything had gone up. It was still worth the money. |Overall, the hotel needs a make over desperately but the staff were friendly and it was clean.| I wouldn't stay there again until the hotel is revamped which is a shame because it is closest for our needs.|

We stayed here before in 2022, and it wasn't too bad, hence booking here again.|Big mistake. We booked in for four days, and the front desk staff told us the room wouldn't be cleaned daily as we were staying for a prolonged period.|When we first walked into our room (no 15), we were hit with a very stale smell. Unfortunately, we had just completed the drive from the South of England and were super tied. Otherwise, we would have complained in the first instance. As time went on, the smell of damp became worse.|On the second day, we should have let the staff know, but decided we'd left it too long and just dealt with it.|The room was clean and staff did replace our towels when we asked.|Unfortunately, the bathroom wasn't clean. People had in the past written clean me on the mirror and added multiple footprints on the mirror, too. Clearly, the mirror hadn't been cleaned, and the room looked tired.|We also noticed black mould in the bathroom and corners of the main room.

Stayed here the night before Great North Run. More expensive than I would have liked, but to be expected on GNR weekend. Staff on check in and check out both fantastic and friendly. Really nice touch having pins, plasters, info and other bits for runners.
Room (we had room 156) was very spacious and incredibly powerful shower and was very quiet considering how close the A19 is.
Only thing I would comment on is how warm the room was. A fan is provided and the window open, but just something to be aware of. All in all, a great stay.
