I stayed here from 27 September, initially for 3 nights, on a walking holiday with Involved Holidays. Warm, friendly hotel. The food was outstanding. Each night they put on a 3 course/3 choice menu for our group. All what I call proper cooking eg pate-salmon fillet-lemon tart. So good I stayed for an extra night, and the Partridge breast stuffed with haggis, wrapped in smoked bacon with jus, followed by Toblerone cheesecake (that I had on the last night) was definitely food of the gods! And the breakfast is not bad either!

We didn't stay at the hotel itself but we ate there, two nights running, because the food was the best we encountered on our whole holiday. The first night we arrived tired and dishevelled from a long drive and walking in the rain. Everything else was closed. I felt embarrassed about our appearance, but the staff were super, genuinely friendly - giving us the option of eating in the bar, rather than the restaurant rooms, which at once put us at ease. When I eat out, I always hope I'm going to be served something different and better than I could do at home and wowey!I was not disappointed. I know it's a cliche, but the feather-blade of beef in red wine sauce, really did just melt in the mouth and the sauce was so delicious I could have made a meal of that alone. Vegetables were cooked to perfection.|The next night, my son chose the lamb dish, his eyebrows working overtime with every mouthful. I went for the pork over rosti with a wonderful crispy coated, divinely flavoured, pulled pork and apple 'ball' balanced on top. The sauce was again, superb. I wonder if the chef took their inspiration from the local landscape. Everything looked and tasted just right for the location as much as the occasion of our holiday. The warmed almond tart with cream which followed was heaven. What a find! Later, when I looked it up, I wasn't at all surprised to discover it is an award winning restaurant. We thought ourselves extraordinarily lucky to have stumbled upon it - courtesy of the host of The Barn, Bellingham. Thank you for two really happy evenings! We never met you chef/chefs - but we love you!

We had such a lovely stay, great value dinner, bed & breakfast. High quality home cooked restaurant food, comfortable room, great location. Our dogs were catered for beautifully, super local river walks. Friendly and helpful staff made the stay totally enjoyable.

This was the 4th time I’ve stayed here and once again the staff were very friendly and engaging, the hotel has really warm homely feel, and the food is always excellent. They change the menu every day which is something you don’t see very often.

I was really looking forward to visiting here after reading the reviews. However I left pretty deflated and disappointed with my stay. Check in was nice and quick and friendly and I was allocated a room up the stairs. Unfortunately there was no hot water so after logging the issue with reception I was moved to a different room. The second room was a lot bigger and the bathroom was very smart but again no hot water. Instead of moving again I decided to put up with it.Seemed to be an issue throughout the hotel speaking to other guests. The fire alarm was also going off so all seemed a bit of a shambles. I ate down in the bar which is dated and the tv is a small portable in a small room which made difficult viewing for the football. The food was poor. A dry and tasteless lasagna certainly didn’t hit the spot. Overall a poor visit and somewhere I would not be rushing back to.

This is a fantastic place to stay! We stayed for two nights of which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our room looked towards the river and was very scenic. The room was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated with birds wallpaper. There was tea/coffee facilities in the room as well as complimentary toiletries and towels. We ate in the hotel on the first evening and our meal was exceptional! It was one of the best meals we have had in a restaurant and we eat out often. The food is absolutely outstanding and deserves a five star Michelin award! Compliments to the chefs. We had a traditional full English breakfast as well which was delicious! Also there is a bar which is cosy and friendly with great wine! Staff at the Riverdale are so friendly and welcoming too. |Would I go back here…….definitely 100%!!!|Thank you Riverdale, it was a pleasure.

Off the beaten track in Bellingham, this is a gem. Lovey place with Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. The food was excellent and they have a nice real ale from a local brewery.
Places like this make working away from your loved ones much more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the Riverdale to anyone. Thank you !
