Really enjoyed our meal here. I had walnut & pear salad (delish) and others had haddock and chips, Thai green curry and rib eye steak. All were very good indeed. Server was personable and friendly. Baileys coffee at the end was so nice. You can really get a bad baileys coffee sometimes but this one was perfection. Great place.

We stayed at several great hotels/B&Bs and pubs on our Hadrian's wall walk. This one, however, had our favorite ambiance! It was a great hotel, it is literally right on the path, the pub had great dinners (perhaps the best dinner of our walk) and great ales. Staff was very pleasant. Would recommend this place to anyone walking Hadrian's wall.

You will have a hard time finding a better dinner and accommodation while on the wall!

First time visiting this pub but definitely not the last, food was amazing, tasted like a home coked dinner, very generous portions, and prices are very reasonable considering the size of the portions, look forward to the next visit

Good place for a visit & a meal, recommend the apple & blackberry crumble & custard for dessert, best we have ever had. Would definitely go & stop there again.

Just got home from having lunch here today and it was absolutely delicious. We went for a drive to pass the time and drove past so decided to stop for lunch. I had the chicken supreme and my husband had the gammon steak and both of the meals were delicious.

We were booked here after the sixth day of our Hadrian’s Path walk from Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend in Newcastle. The pub and B+B is right on the path no no detours required. The friendly owner Kath greeted us on arrival and showed us to our rooms The room was clean, a little small but well-fitted including a en-suite bathroom with bath and over-shower. We had a nice supper in the pub restaurant itself served by friendly staff. There is a busy road in front of the pub but double glazing reduced the noise to acceptable levels. The breakfast was good. A packed lunch is available if you are walking the next day. Check-in is 4pm.

Stopped off at this quaint pub following a day trip to Matfen. Astounded by the quality of food. Young couple sharing: a starter of salt and pepper squid, mains of roast duck and tiger prawn linguine plus a desert of warm chocolate brownie. Strongly recommend and worth a detour !
