The best bed and breakfast accommodation we have ever experienced. All amenities that one could hope for were provided and more. Micheal and Jill are the perfect hosts who warmly welcoming all guests. Ample parking and easy walking distance to local pub for evening meals. The village is seeped in history and is a pleasure to walk around. ||If you are looking for the most pleasurable bed and breakfast experience look no further.

A perfect stay with wonderful hosts. Michael and Jilly welcomed us to their lovely home as if we were family. Greeted with a lovely cup of tea and cake followed by a nice glass of wine. Fabulous breakfast - perfectly cooked by Michael. All wonderful and most pleasant.

We had stayed with Jilly and Michael previously as a couple and this time we returned with our two small children. Almost 12 months between visits and Jilly and Michael had remembered our children’s names and ages and before we arrived had asked what food they would prefer so they could have it in for them.|We arrived on Friday evening, welcomed and got settled. Jilly later asked the children if they’d like to see the dogs and gardens and off they went to play while my husband and I were treated to a wine and beer in the beautiful garden with nibbles.|We had 2 lovely nights, watching rabbits and foxes in the back field which the children were fascinated with and the 2 mornings with the most wonderful, fresh breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble during your stay and I couldn’t recommend booking and staying more. We will most definitely be returning.

Our experience with Rowan House began long before we arrived at the property. Michael and Jilly are clearly experts in hospitality. They made sure to understand who was visiting and why in order to provide a very personal experience. Rowan house itself is a beautiful home in a rural village close to Stamford. We stayed in an upstairs annexe that could easily be regarded as a suite. This included two comfortable bedrooms, a family bathroom, a spacious living room and kitchen. Throughout our stay Michael and jilly continued to ensure that we had everything we needed. The breakfasts provided were tailored to each individual and were brilliantly prepared. We have just returned today from our 2 night stay at Rowan House and the title of this review is entirely accurate. ||LOCATION:||Superb location just ten minutes drive from Stamford centre or 15 minutes from Rutland water. Barnack is a quaint little village with some beautiful stone houses and lots of open countryside surrounding it.||An ideal base point from which to explore the surrounding area.||The village has a pub called the Millstone which is beautiful and feels very cosy when you walk in, just like any good pub should! Food was superb and we felt reasonably priced at £70ish for two having two courses and a drink each ||PROPERTY:||Rowan house is a lovely, large house that backs onto open fields as far as the eye can see. It has a large gravel drive so plenty of space to park.||The interior is immaculately presented and our accommodation exceeded expectations. We essentially had full use of a “wing” of the house, which consisted of:||A good size double bedroom with ample space to store clothes and suitcases etc. ||A lovely sitting room with TV that had all apps (iPlayer, ITVX etc) books, dvd’s, magazines - everything you would find in your own sitting room really! Plus both of these rooms have spectacular views over the fields behind.||There is a small kitchen area with fridge, a microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. Loads of tea and coffee available, milk and chilled bottle of water in the fridge on arrival were much appreciated and the bowl of roses chocolates went down swimmingly too!||Oh I mustn’t forget the decanter of sherry waiting for us with two glasses - that also went down well!||The final room is a large bathroom with standalone shower, bath and vanity unit.||The rooms downstairs are beautiful - the owners have a wonderful eye for design.||THE EXPERIENCE:||The location and property alone would make Rowan House worthy of visiting for anyone. The magic is within the owners themselves. Michael and Jilly are truly wonderful people and the best hosts one could ever wish for.||Their genuine warmth for people and zest for life are inspirational. This is clearly not a job to them, they just really enjoy meeting and connecting with people. Yes they are polite, professional and attentive hosts but they are also so much more. And their dogs Barley and Hetty are just adorable.||We had some fantastic chats with Jilly and Michael over a few glasses of wine and around the breakfast table too. They have led very interesting lives!||Oh and I must mention the breakfast! Michael is a whizz in the kitchen and his scrambled eggs are to die for! Plus fresh fruit, proper fruit juice (not from concentrate), toast, cereal, a huge selection of jams and even marmite (great for my wife as she’s obsessed with it).||If I could sum it up in a sentence it would be this: we arrived as guests and left as friends. Doesn’t get any better than that for me.

You will receive a warm welcome from Michael and Jilly, together with spectacular accommodation in a beautiful location. Your breakfast will be cooked to order with the very best of ingredients and it will be delicious! We have just had the most amazing stay and will definitely be returning. I enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay at Rowan House with amazing views of the countryside both Jilly and Michael are excellent hosts and the accommodation offered is excellent not only did we have a comfortable bedroom and well appointed bathroom we had use of a lovely sitting room and a small kitchen if we wanted to make a snack or hot drink! Not forgetting a delicious choice of breakfast treats each morning. Being able to park both our cars on the drive way was also a plus! I am looking forward to returning in the spring for another short break to enjoy a visit to Burleigh house having driven past it for many years on my way north to visit family! The town of Stamford had a good variety of shops for Christmas shopping and we enjoyed a coffee at the George Hotel! I fully recommend you book your stay without any hesitation you won’t be disappointed!

The most wonderful B&B. Its more than a B&B It's a wonderful home where you are welcomed with open arms by Jilly and Michael. There is everything there (and more) that you need for your stay in this lovely house. Many little extras that make you feel very spoilt. Beautiful appointed rooms and a breakfast of high quality ingredients to suit every taste. Thank you Jilly and Michael for looking after Julia and myself so very very well. We will see you again soon.
