Liked: Check in was easy, accommodation very comfortable and warm. Facilities were good. Nice park for the kids and open grounds for a walk.

Disliked: The only slight issue I had was that the accommodation we booked wasn't the one we stayed in. Not really a whinge because they gave us 2 lodges instead of 1 big Glamping pod because there wasn't one available. Which was fine, the lady just seemed surprised that I hadn't been informed of the change.

Liked: We loved the hive. We stayed in October so the suneas shining but cold in the evening. The heating was great in the hive and the kitchen /bathroom areas had everything you needed. Clean and tidy on arrival. Our grandson loved the freedom to ride his bike all day and play on park. We had a great time.

Disliked: Nothing

I had a brilliant experience here it was a world away from home and I thoroughly enjoyed the peace in a tranquil setting. The site manager Cath was an absolute delight and the residents were friendly. Dog friendly for my over active Dalmatian and kids loved the park. I came to The Royal Umpire with my Sister and Niece, what a hidden gem! I absolutely loved it and will definitely be returning. We stayed for 3 nights and took a barbecue, taught my niece all the basics of glamping and she loved the simplicity of the experience, no phones out, no social media, games and family bonding. There is a shower and toilet block and an area to wash dishes. Pods have a fridge, freezer and most cutlery. Beds were comfortable despite looking like they would be uncomfortable. We spoke to quite a few fellow glampers who were lovely and agreed they would return. Staff were fantastic very friendly and chatty. My niece loved the play area and I loved the big field for a leisurely stroll and picnic. There is a pub for food a 5 min walk and a beautiful neighbouring village in Croston that we ventured out to for tea one night at The Wheafsheaf (lovely food), another evening we ventured to a fabulous Italian in Eccleston (about a 10min drive) Verdes Restaurant. Well worth a visit take the kids and go back to basics and bond over a family chat, would even suit a Couple as it is romantic.

Stayed in one of the hives with my husband and dog.|Warm welcome, no stress.|Hive lovely and clean, cooking utensils supplied and a lovely complimentary box fill of starter goodies. |Not sure if cooking utensils normally supplied as this wasn't clear on the booking page and no-one responded to my email asking but nevertheless, they were there.|Site was nice and quiet- perhaps due to time of year...|I would recommend and stay again.

I stayed at Royal Umpire for a number of weeks in our caravan. I have to say the staff were so lovely and courteous and couldnโ€™t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. It is very dog friendly with plenty of space to walk. Even when itโ€™s busy itโ€™s a nice atmosphere to be in. There is the Highfield pub across the road from the site where we had many lovely meals at reasonable prices. There is also the picturesque village of Croston about a mile away with a plenty of places to have a drink. We will definitely return again soon in our campervan. Thank you to Cath and her Team for going the extra mile.

Worst campsite weโ€™ve ever been to. Toilet blocks are disgusting, filthy, no toilet paper, weak showers. |No bins around. The whole site is extremely run down.|Park area and fields are good.|But the Best thing was leaving early. |Knock it down and start again!
