We stayed as part of a Caledonian coach tour to Windsor and London. |We checked in quickly and were pleasantly surprised to find comfortable rooms which had recently been refurbished. Everything was spotlessly clean and the bed was firm and comfortable. There were supplies of tea, coffee and biscuits which could easily be restocked at Reception. Breakfast and dinner had a very good choice with water available if you didn't want drinks from the bar.|The staff were constantly cleaning and tidying and were always helpful and pleasant. Overall, a very nice stay.

On first inspection, the room was ok, if a little on the small side. The bathroom door did not close, the bed was terrible and the pillows need chucking away. Consequently not much sleep had. The cost of taxis to/from the airport made this not the best value. Would not have cost much more to stay in a far better hotel nearer to the airport.

I had the most horrendous experience while staying at this hotel. I was seriously verbally abused by a very drunk fellow guest. Their behaviour was witnessed by many in the hotel that evening and the language was appalling in front of many families with young children. They were continually served alcoholic drinks when they were clearly inebriated or under some other influence. Other guests tried to help me as the hotel staff,( all three of them) failed to assist with the onslaught at the start, meaning the situation escalated out of control very quickly. I demanded the police be called, which they were and they evicted the culprits from the hotel later that night. However, as pensioners my friend and I ended up under self induced ‘ house arrest’, as we were fearful of the fellow guests actions.||||My point is that the two males were booked into the hotel, however a female was not. They had been disruptive the day before apparently (told by a member of staff) and they had moved other guests away from their room because of the disruption. Whilst the staff were very sweet, they are clearly untrained in how to deal with such situations and their responsibility to safeguard other guests in the hotel. I would expect better of this hotel chain. I will not be staying with them ever again and have not been reimbursed. ||||I would like to thank the one lady guest who tried to intervene. It was much appreciated.||||The hotel and parking facilities were in fact fine in line with low budget hotels.

We had a good room, clean and tidy. Left our car here for 10 nights. The price was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, food was so so but we just wanted a decent hotel before our flight and that's what we got

I love London so this was my 14th trip to London and the second time I attempted to get a night rest near Gatwick Airport.||Due to work I could not choose times to fly and with an early flight I got a green light from work to finish a long day with a night near the airport.||||Let's start with the bright sides: It was cheap and quite near the airport (5km and about 21 GBP in Uber). Room itself must have been 75 or something, not too bad.||||Two years ago, in a different hotel, I had the same attempt and ended up spending the night in the airport as systems had f*** up and it was overbooked. When my Uber arrived, it was so crowded outside with angry tourists.||||Back to Russ Hill in September 2024, I got a bad feeling when my Uber arrived at 22 (10PM) and there was a cue going all the way from the desk and outdoor.||||Uh oh, same story?||||Actually not, but: I was in que for an hour. An hour with probably no more than 20 people in front of me. When I finally made it in, the que was even longer and they must have stayed there far into the night.||||A plane to Italy was cancelled to there was crowdy and busy due to that. I respect that.||||When you run a hotel near an airport, though, these things must happen now and then. Why not find a better solution? I feel sorry for the reseptionsts this night, they did their job and apologized, it was their system that did not work out.||||When it was my turn, finally, I made myself a promise not to yell or be rude to the workers, but in my silent sense I was curious what took so long. I have worked in a hotel reseption myself and it doesn't have to be more complicated than find a room, pay and here is your key.||||In Russ Hill, with que far out of the building at midnight, they keep waiting for paperwork (who will ever check that signature?), instead of speeding up the process and give people their room so they can sleep before or after a long travel.||If that paperwork is so important to the world, then slip it under the door so we can sign later. Your money is in the bank, that will the most important here, right?||||Sorry for a long post here, but to sum up the room too:||* No signal (!!). I couldn't make a phone call undisturbed. Internet (my own 5G, not wifi) worked briefly.||* Wifi costs. Fair enough, but please let's have SIGNAL!||* Breakfast costs. Fair enough.||Room was in Luton, swear I walked for five minutes and the signs was like a jungle, that crossword was not my cup of tea at midnight.||* Small room, but thats again fair enough, you dont come here to celebrate or spend a week, do you? ||* Beds were comfortable||||2 stars for AN HOUR check in, though, and NO SIGNAL. In 2024!

Just spent a night before flying off and the reviews are right, it is a bit dated it’s true although our bathroom has obviously been updated and the whole room was spotlessly clean. The receptionist is the most polite I’ve ever come across in this country and many others. Food and service in bar were good quality and for the cheap price of stay and parking for car we could ask for no more. Thankyou russ hill

Tidy and clean with friendly staff. Yes it's a little dated in places but it isn't a 5 star hotel.||Bed linen was clean and crisp, kettle and hairdryer worked, lots of hot water and clean towels. ||We also ate here and food was 'pub grub' but a good standard. ||Would certainly use again

Stayed for one night. |For the price we paid, we have no complaints. The room was clean and had everything you needed. Only downsides were, it only had one pillow each (luckily we brought our own) and there were no coat hangers. |The building is a very old manor house that was converted into a hotel many years ago and as a result, sound proofing isn't fantastic but, didn't keep us awake. |Overall we would recommend for a cheap overnight stay especially if you are traveling to or from Gatwick Airport.
