A must visit if you're in the area.
The walk up is pretty quick.
A great place to get some family photos with the Highlands in the background without going on a long hike which is perfect for families that have toddlers. Dog friendly as it's all outside.
A handful of off road parking spaces.

A great place to explore. Inspired to visit by the Caroline R. Chisholm novels of the Jacobite risings. You can imagine the Jacobites coming here after Culloden, also the Red Coats when it was a Barracks. Very atmospheric. If you love your 18th century Scottish history it's a must visit...

Interesting piece of history. The ruins are in relatively good condition and you can really get an idea of how it was to live there.
Worth the short detour from the main road.

The views from the barracks are spectacular. The signs are very informative about the history. Not sure I would go out of my way to visit but if you're nearby or passing through it's definitely worth a stop.

Old stone buildings you can explore, lots of little plaques with some history, and good views of the surrounding valley. No cost to visit, wander and explore at your own pace. It is largely at ground level, which makes it easy for mobility but also limits the exploration. However, there is a steep climb, if you have mobility issues that may be a challenge. I was glad we stopped and took a look.

Really atmospheric and made us think about the men who were stationed here. A short but steep walk up to the fort; I managed it and had a hip replacement less than 8 months ago. Worth a visit.

Interesting place full of history, the barracks just emerge on the road and the view is beautiful. Free entry, opened all the time, and has informative texts everywhere.

With the generally intact structure and helpful placards, you can get a great sense of the space, and imagine what went on here. We visited on a typical overcast and misty day which only heightened the experience of soaking in the essence of the highlands history.
