We recently spent two nights at the Salwey Arms. There is a large car park so no problem there. We were greeted warmly by Sue who we later discovered was the owner.|While waiting for our room to be ready , we ordered a sea bream dish which was excellent and fresh . The hotel room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable and there was a great en suite with a rolled top bath although no separate shower. Towels were very fluffy.|Superb choice of breakfast items. I had the excellent full English breakfast on day one and the pancakes on day two.|Because of this we also had a chicken dish for dinner, once again very fresh and well cooked.|Throughout are stay all the staff were most accommodating and helpful.|The hotel is about 7 miles from Ludlow town but easy to get to. There is also a nearby park and ride if you so wish.|Because the property is grade two listed, there is no double glazing in the room and there is a fair bit of traffic noise but it didn’t put us off.|Overall a great all round hotel with great staff and would fully recommend it.

We were quite late arriving but welcomed by a gentleman who arranged a table for us. The very pleasant young lady in glasses took our order, unfortunately the other person serving seemed to have an attitude.
The standard of the food was excellent. We have used the Salwey restaurant many times in the past and look forward to our next visit.

What a lovely meal and atmosphere for an early Sunday evening. In a rural location it's often difficult to find a quality restaurant open late on a Sunday. This was great, quality food well presented, enough gravy for the roast dinner, good menu options, and staff were attentive and got timing between courses just right. We all felt relaxed and not hurried.

Can't comment on rooms as we were only there for a meal. Excellent food and prompt friendly service. Staff did everything to make us feel welcome and wanted.

Mixed reviews, popped in on our way to our holiday and had a lovely lunch. The food was really great and the staff were friendly. After our first successful visit popped in on the way back from holiday to be told there was no food, which was disappointing. However the first experience definitely trumps it and hopefully on our next visit there will be food! Thanks

This is clearly a popular place but this was our experience.

We had a table booked for 13:45, arrived approx 13:30 and were seated within 5 minutes which was great. We knew what we wanted as we are plant based and set the menus to one side and waited for someone to take our order. It was relatively busy, but the tables around us were either finished or about to leave and the staff certainly weren't swiftly in and out making sure things were in order and eye contact was very hard to come by.

The experienced lady came into the room asking if anyone minded if a couple could be seated in the same room with their dog; no problem. Their order was taken immediately and the staff member walked out. We stayed patient understanding that this can sometimes happen. I then walked to near the entrance as, as I said before, the staff weren't coming in very often, only to see another table of four that arrived after us having their order taken by the lady who seated us. I sat back down as no other staff were around.

By this point it was just before 5 to two, when a member of the wait staff came in, walked past our table to clear a table behind us and began to walk out at which point we asked if we could have our order taken, understanding that she would of course have to come back. The obvious thing would have been to acknowledge our table, take our order and then clear the table behind us. Nevermind. We placed our order, two vegan nut roasts and a half portion for our 22-month-old who was also very patient for a 22-month-old.

Our starter arrived, the wild mushroom starter, which was tasty but not hot.

It was twenty to 3 when our food arrived. My son's was brought by the lady who seated us who, when I asked, said it was vegan. The more experienced lady then arrived with the adult meals, but said that none of the meals were vegan, made sure we had specified this when placing the order, which we had, then had them re-plated with 5-10 minutes. She rectified the situation as quick as possible, but by this point the wait and the poor service from the other wait staff had very much dampened our spirits. Being served a non-vegan meal wasn't the issue; we ate meat most of our lives and are very relaxed about our dietary choice. It was the wait (which would have been longer had we not stopped the young lady), incredibly poor service, lack of eye contact and given all of this paying just over Β£50 for what was a thoroughly disappointing experience. The mains tasted good, hence two stars.

Other reviews have also mentioned the poor service/impolite staff, which is such a shame for what is genuinely a beautiful pub.
