A stunning hotel with spectacular views but what makes it special is the staff. From the restaurant staff to the reception team to the bar staff to the cleaning team and spa staff, all have been friendly and efficient and gone over and above to make our stay enjoyable. The food at breakfast and dinner has been excellent. The swimming pool, gym and jacuzzi pool with a view have exceeded our expectations. A lovely location to take walks from too. Fantastic. Thoroughly recommended.

Sitting on the top of a cliff you get great views across the bay even when the weather isn’t great. The room was well appointed and had a couple of easy chairs to relax. The facilities were good although restricted to 45 minutes in the thermal area wasn’t great as I like to use in the morning firtpst thing and then before dinner.||The breakfast was excellent with wonderfully tasty poached eggs and plenty of choice.||What makes this a great hotel are the staff. All very helpful and friendly and they all look like they are enjoying their work.||We will be returning in the summer to make use of the outdoor pool.

I’d give it 4 stars simply to honour the beauty of the building ( art deco) , service was nice too, no issues , maybe minor mistakes were made but always friendly ; pls be mindful they don’t have air cons in rooms, so during summer is most unpleasant, on our stay also unfortunately shower didn’t work as it should in the room, so it was a bad hotel stay experience, but I guess it was also an one -off issue , which is unlikely a regular issue with all the rooms … ; if you don’t expect miracles and appreciate the location - give it a try.

We arrived for a twilight spa evening.
No marked spaces left in the car park but managed to find somewhere to leave the car.
Welcomed by the staff. I have been here before so didn't need a tour of the spa.
Received a nice robe and towel for our spa evening. Flips flops size didn't match but found a pair to wear.
Vitality salt pool could have been slightly less foaming but nice to sit in. Sauna was lovely. Shower out of order but had ice bowl to try and rinse and cool in between. Steam room could have been hotter and more steamy.
Had a nice swim in the pool too, and glass of prosecco each by the pool was nice.
Overall a pleasant evening and feeling very cleansed, and overall generally clean areas. Thank you Saunton Sands Spa.

A welcomed post Christmas & New Year family break. We stayed in one of the hotel’s apartments. I was concerned that the Art Deco hotel might have been stuck with 1930’s decoration and plumbing - a faded shadow of its former self. It was also the end of the season; would the staff be jaded. No! They couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much of a problem. The apartment was exceptionally well equipped, spacious and clean; the hotel spa and swimming pool equally welcoming and clean. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Being regular visitors to other Brend Hotels in the south west we thought we should try the flagship hotel of the group over the Christmas five day break. An excellent choice. From the front door, through reception to the de luxe room, the dining areas and the spa, yes, even the car park, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. In these days of excuses for mediocre service and average but expensive food, this establishment has every reason to hold its head up high. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

I’m privileged to have travelled all over the world for work and have stayed in hundreds of hotels and I can honestly say this was one of the best I’ve ever stayed in and the reason is, the staff. Every single member of staff is friendly, engaging, helpful, polite and courteous.

A good quality glass of Prosecco on arrival is always a nice touch. And your journey begins there. They even provide warm coats for you to borrow (which I did) for an early morning walk on the beach.

In the sense of fairness I’ll try and find some negatives. The room has a slightly older hotel feel, as does the furniture, but the bed is super comfortable. Oh and the carpet in the main restaurant is a bit psychedelic but that’s just me nit picking. I didn’t have dinner or use the spa so I can’t comment on that.

Breakfast was great, again with excellent service. The bar was great, with - you’ve guessed it - excellent service.

I was working in the area and got back in the early hours, and the gentleman on the night shift was still happy to serve me a night cap, another fantastic member of the team.

I worked 4 years in a two Michelin star restaurant and I know the effort that goes into staff training to attend to a guests every need and they do it effortlessly, dare I say even naturally. Great job guys!

An incredible and memorable stay at Saunton sands!
We have stayed in many hotels but never experienced such excellent customer service. From the porter to the restaurant staff (we had Ellie) look after us, nothing was too much trouble and they went of their way to ensure we had a good stay. The food was delicious at every meal and the spa was amazing. We enjoyed a couple massage and time in the spa was so relaxing esp the whirlpool with an amazing view over the beach. This place has a magic of it own and we can’t wait to come back. We have come home feeling relaxed and the views from the hotel are stunning! The beach is longer than you realise if u do decide to venture off, but this hotel has something was everyone! Highly recommend it and will be telling all our friends and family about our amazing visit to one of the best hotels in the UK!
