Quite a step back, to the 70's if not earlier, with very dated and tired communal areas. The room was fine, it had been updated fairly recently. We were on the top floor with a new shower but with a 70's standard dribble, a pump definitely needed. The WiFi system was a mess, a great connection to the nearby repeater but limited somewhere before that to become very slow. We chose the place due to its parking (a big issue in Whitby) but that became full and we had to park on the street one night (of three) - they provided a disk but it meant heading out to reset it in the morning.(

Not long returned from one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Everything about my stay was perfect - from my room being ready on arrival despite it being an hour and a half to check-in to the friendly effortless check-out. This hotel is so customer focused. Every member of staff I met were friendly and out to provide the best experience - nothing was too much trouble. Really good sized room which was really comforting and welcoming. And the food in the restaurant was amazing - really good to have a new menu daily and a well-thought out range, I would defy anyone not to find something they loved. A true gem and I will be visiting again soon.

Needs a refurbishment and reception staff training.|Booked a twin room well in advance.|On arrival, there was no twin room. Lady at reception hopeless and unapologetic . £20 extra a night we were allocated a deluxe room. Peach 1970's bathroom suite and threadbare towels. The shower flooded the room on first use, but the reception guy gave us towels and said he was going off shift. So the floor was flooded a second time.|Evening meal was just OK but as we were part of a fairly large group of friends, we enjoyed ourselves, despite the head waiter making it very clear, just before 9pm he was clearing up.|The breakfast was good and the breakfast staff were brilliant. |However, really, it needs dragged into the 21st century , refurbished and new reception staff!|

Very old fashioned hotel that could do with a major refurbishment. Very expensive for what was meant to be a deluxe room.
We had phoned ahead for a twin room but none available onarrival so had to pay £20 a night extra for the supposedly deluxe rooms. Towels threadbare( see attached photo).
Peach bathroom right out of the 70's. Shower flooded the small bathroom floor on first use.
Reception staff were completely useless and afraid of a bit of work. Honestly not great at all. Breakfast wS certainly lying OK and the breakfast staff were great .
We had a group evening meal. The food was so old fashioned and bland. Salmon overcooked no taste. 3 courses was only £30 but I wish we had hone out. Started the meal at 7pm and before 9pm the waiter was making it very obvious he was clearing up.
I would definitely NOT stay again at that price.
By the way still with g for Nicola tocome back to us overnot initially having our twin room available.
Without the breakfast staff, it would have got 1 star!

We have just taken a last minite break at this hotel. The hotel interior is very traditional, but in imaculate condition throughout. The breakfast was lovely and included table service too with friendly, efficient waitresses. The reception staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Our room was a very traditional double room and very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was new and the water piping hot. We both slept very well. The hotel is in a residential area and it is quiet on a night time. The hotel has the bonus of a first come, first served car park that accommodates abot ten cars. The hotel is on the West Cliff and about a 15 minute walk into Whitby. If you walk the opposite direction for about 45 minutes you end up in Sandsend which is a lovely, quaint village with a couple of decent sea front cafes and at least one pub. This place is definately worth staying at and we shall return here on our next visit to Whitby............

Stayed as a couple. Excellent location as only a fifteen minute walk to town. Car parking opposite as well. Clean throughout; great customer service and really friendly staff. Lovely breakfast with something for everyone. Highly recommend.

I’m reading all good reviews, I was really looking for the experience and to see Whitby. Well it’s not meant to happen. I don’t know how room looks like so low start. I didn’t receive any service except, getting a phone call for my “late” check-in regardless they were informed I’m not coming. So that deserves a low start, mocking me for that and then sending me to write a review on several platforms so here I am. And finally location, well I haven’t seen it so low start unfortunately as well. I know you are all happy for easy money for nothing, but I’m not.

Had 4 great days in Whitby.
The hotel was very clean with wonderful service, very helpful staff and succulent menus.
