We based ourselves at Shaftoes for 3 nights - for us it was really convenient for visiting Vindolanda, Hadrian's Wall, and Durham Cathedral.|The Guest House is spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable. |The hosts, Lois and David, are so welcoming and informative, it felt like family.|Breakfast was top quality produce, cooked to order - truly delicious.|Would highly recommend Shaftoes and not hesitate to stay again if ever we're in the area.

Stayed here last weekend 7/9 for 1 nt to attend a local wedding.

Loved it, family run, quiet and the food is outstanding!! The rooms are very tasteful and well maintained.

Highly recommend. Will be back at some point in the future!

Wonderful hosts who are so helpful and friendly. The rooms are exceptionally clean and the property located in a quiet area with little passing traffic. Breakfast tailored to your specific request and is delicious. We will be back , for sure.

Beautiful B&B situated on the South Side of the River Tyne in Haydon Bridge run by Lois and David. |Ideally placed for all the Roman Sites nearby as well as easy access to Hexham,Corbridge,Newcastle and Carlisle.|The guest house rooms are very comfortable with all the amenities you would expect from a high quality establishment. Breakfast are amazing with numerous choices all of which taste great.|All in all i would recommend Shaftoe's for a great stay.|If you need local info Lois knows it all.|PS Bog Cart Inn 3 miles away near Langley does fab food. Try there speciality Bog Pie. So good i had it 3 times!!!.|

Can't fault it - from the warm welcome to the fond farewell this is a brilliant B&B. Having shown us to our spacious, comfortable & spotless room Lois brought us a tray with tea & coffee. We had great recommendations for eating out & felt nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was as good as it gets; parking is outside the front door (security camera); location is perfect for exploring the area; lots of nice touches indoors for extra comfort (eg fridge, lounge, games, etc.) It was our first visit but won't be our last because we won't find anything better.

My wife and I stayed with some friends on 12th October this year. We all agreed the best B/B we,ve ever stayed in. Fabulous hosts in a fabulous B/B. Will definitely be going back.

Lois and David are very hospitable and Lois made us feel very welcome when we arrived. There is a real cosy feel to Shaftoes. The room and common area for the guests are very clean and Lois has some great ideas for making your stay more comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, the bed was comfortable and there was a good shower. We used Shaftoes as a base to drive to Hadrians Wall and Vindolanda. We would not hesitate to stay again when in the area. Thank you!

Fantastic B&B in a great location, next to the the river for a nice walk. The room was fantastic and the breakfast delicious. But most importantly, the host was lovely! Thank you for making us feel so welcomed.
P.S.: loved the detail of the makeup remover towel 🙂
