We were recommended into trying this restaurant and we weren't disappointed - absolutely delicious.
The poppadoms & chutneys were fresh & full of flavour.
Main courses included Lamb Tikka Massala, Naga chicken - both of which were everso tender. Garlic naan's were light, warm and beautifully flavoured. We all voted the Sag Paneer as outstanding.
Service was polite, prompt & nit intrusive.
Also they didn't automatically add a discretionary service charge, sonething that seems all to common these days- but the extra 10% they got from me was well deserved.
An Indian restaurant well recommended.

What can I say about this place? The actual restaurant is beautiful, I especially love the booths so it feels nice and private. The staff were so good, attentive and answering all our questions. The food was fabulous. Reminded me of food I had up in the Midlands. Fresh, spicy, zesty and succulent. We know curries and this placed absolutely rocked!! Highly highly recommend!!!

I’ve just moved back to the area after around a 10 year gap of not going to the Shalimar. Have been twice since moving back and can confirm it’s still the best curry house around! The staff are super friendly and can’t do enough to make your visit a lovely experience. The curry is the best around. Went last night and cannot fault anything. Great service and food on a very busy evening in the run up to Christmas. So pleased we can regularly visit the Shalimar again!

Came here for dinner with friends. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Food was nice. Drinks are on the expensive side here so watch for prices of drinks. Sign on door that they take Amex but when it came to paying we couldn't pay by Amex which was a letdown for me. All in all a nice experience but costs n payment type could be improved.

This is an excellent restaurant. TBH Indian restaurants are never the cleanest and always suffer from a lack of maintenance to the decor. Not this place it was clean with a great atmosphere. Service was excellent and the food was good too!

We have been many times. Last time was superb. Today we had to ask for cutlery for starters and then again for mains. Wine was brought to table and just left there not even opened. No toilet paper in ladies (after asking twice). Gents toilets leaks on floor and doors hanging off. Starts were dry and tasteless. Main curry was supposed to have creamy sauce but there was no sauce in it. Empty beer glass left on end of table so they could easily see it and still eventually after 25mins had to ask for another beer. Usualy spend alot more money there but we were told we only had 30mins left so just left feeling rushed, not even offered a desert menu or coffee. Very dissapointed as this was our favourite Indian sit down restaurant by far. It has fell such a long way.

This is belated as been in hospital. Six of us came for birthday meal on 10/10/2024. I have been a regular customer for years in the past at Shalimar. I have always given it glowing report and recommende to many people but when six of us came for birthday lunch we were very disapointed. Just us as far as I could see in restraunt, food took long time and on arrival it was only tepid. Really disapointed and not been back since. Owners have known me for many years as lived around the corner when my husband was alive. As my brother and wife coming down to visit me soon. Do I come back or not? Hilary Stark.

Excellent restaurant and takeaway. Dishes can be tailor made to your taste in heat. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient and are willing to explain dishes. Well worth a visit. It was recommended to us, which was why we tried it. No regrets whatsoever. We all left very satisfied.
