Me and and partner stayed here as part of a package deal to go to the Harry Potter Studios. The welcome was okay and staff were friendly but it wasn’t worth the amount I paid.

The room was okay but heat by was broken and replaced with a plug in radiator, tape was over one of the electrical switches saying do not use. TV was so dark we couldn’t see it. We also had food which was great, standard hotel prices, breakfast was average for a hotel, decor was great and staff were very helpful and friendly.

The manor itself is beautiful and I wish I could have given a better review.

Would stay here again in a better room.

Really lovely hotel, I don’t understand why there’s so many mixed reviews.||We stayed for 1 night as part of a Harry Potter studios package, which is a short drive away. Gorgeous grounds which were very well maintained, lots of parking also. ||Bed comfy and room was spacious and clean, telly had all the usual channels. There was no mini fridge which would have been a nice addition but other than that I can’t fault it.||Breakfast was great in the morning too, plenty of hot and cold options and the staff were very friendly. ||Hotel is just a short walk from the train station if you fancy going into London. We ended up going to Watford for some food and shopping which was only an 8 minute train away.||All in all, a really lovely hotel, would definitely stay again if I was in the area 🙂

Wonderful service from start to finish. Couple of issues with the food but the staff rectified it immediately. Genuinely think the staff we encountered love their jobs and a very efficient and pride themselves on their service. Well done.

I’m sorry to say our recent stay at the Shendish left us shocked at the appalling standards of quality and cleanliness.||It is quite possibly the worst example I have ever experienced. It is absolutely desperate for decor and furnishings to be upgraded. It’s so bad that it makes me wonder if the hotel is in serious financial difficulty? To expose customers to that appalling standard must be down to incapacity to upgrade?|Having said that, I could deal with chipped furniture, mirrors and faded furniture as long as they weren’t filthy and grubby (see photos).||The chair and sofa were so disgusting that I didn’t sit on them for fear of soiling my clean light coloured clothes. Many of the carpets are so filthy that the soles of my boots stuck to them in places. The frayed and exposed carpets are not just an aesthetic issue for the hotel but a serious health and safety trip hazard. I’m surprised their insurance covers them for accidents given the frayed carpet on the stairs is a worrying trip hazard!||The staff were pleasant, professional, and welcoming. The architecture stunning. The location superb for commuting to London. The environment with lovely grounds and trees are lovely. ||It is such a shame all of these positives are badly let down by the unacceptable quality standard that I experienced. ||I’m sure the management will respond here by saying why didn’t I advise them etc. I left early in the morning and didn’t return until later in the evening and didn’t have the time to find something else with the circumstances of my trip. Whatever I did/didn’t do - the photos don’t lie. This is long-term dirt and filth. ||I hope this helps other prospective customers decide on whether they would prefer to spend their money else where for a clean and appropriate standard furnishings and environment.||Come on Shendish - you can do better! Pull yourself together and improve your standards for an improved customer experience.

My husband and I stayed here our last two nights in England. In all honesty, we picked Shendish Manor because we were able to get tickets to the Harry Potter Studio tour, but our stay was wonderful!
The grounds and building were beautiful. We stayed in a newer room, had breakfast both mornings, ordered room service for a late night snack, and had drinks in the lobby. Overall, this was a great stay! If there's ever a next time, I'd love to stay in one of the original rooms.

We stayed here so we could attend the Harry Potter studio tour the next day, and we were so pleasantly surprised.
This hotel is beautiful, the grounds even more so. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The food was delicious, and you can't beat eating delicious food and seeing a stag walk past the trees in the background.
If we have the chance, we will be staying here again.

The drive up to the hotel is amazing with such beautiful grounds and a grand house.||After checking in I was pointed in the direction of my room. There was an over powering smell of wet dog down the corridor, I think it was coming from the dirty carpet. ||I found my room. And it was acceptable quite rough around the edges but it appeared clean. The tv was not a smart tv so there was no opportunity to watch Netflix or similar. ||During my stay I got dinner which was again acceptable. Would I book a meal here, no. Nando’s , McDonald’s or KFC would provide you with a superior meal. The staff in the dining hall were very friendly but it felt like they were very pressurised. They were anxious and on the defensive waiting for customers to complain. ||Breakfast was good. Probably not the standard I would expect from a 4 star hotel but I couldn’t fault the breakfast. What I did witness was the lady turning a willing paying couple away from breakfast at 9.25 as breakfast ended at 9.30. When two people are willing to pay for breakfast and they are turned away it doesn’t say much for the business acumen or how accommodating the hotel is in general. ||Would I return? Definitely not. Would I recommend ? Sadly not. This place has such potential to be a fantastic relaxing environment just outside London. Surrounded by beautiful greenery. Sadly it fell short on all counts.

Myself and my daughter stayed here in October and did love it. The staff were amazing and could not do enough for us. However we were in room 3 and i don't know if there was a domestic cupboard outside the room but from 5.00am onwards, there were people coming and going constantly banging a door, therefore we didn't get a lot of sleep after this point. I'm only assuming a domestic cupboard because who else would be up so early. |I couldn't fault the food or the staff though. Made my daughters birthday extra special. |One thing i would mention is that a gratituity charge is placed on the bill without asking, even though i was going to tip anyway. I don't think this should just be assumed as we do not live in America.
