Visited the Shoulder of Mutton as we were staying at a local airBnB before attending a wedding the following day. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel very comfortable during our visit. We ordered food which was absolutely delicious, and even enjoyed some dessert. The food was cooked to a high standard, and tasted delicious.
Both Mark and Lyndsay were lovely and came to join us before we left for the evening. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating, and we were given some local recommendations. It was a most enjoyable evening and should we find ourselves in the area again we will definitely return for a meal again.

Mark and Lyndsey were great hosts and very personable. Lyndsey’s cooking was superb and the pub had a really nice local atmosphere for a hamlet of maybe 50 residents. The church across the road was built around 1100 and was a history lesson with its adjacent cemetary. Highly recommended if you want a cozy overnight with lots of local flair just outside Richmond.

Stayed for 2 nights recently and had a lovely stay. Nice atmosphere and owners were very attentive to our needs. Food was excellent, homemade and good quality. Rooms are a bit dated but clean and comfy. Took our two dogs and they were made welcome to. Enjoyable stay!

Stayed overnight in our Motorhome in the car park. Great little location no far off A66. £20 for the night which is credited to your food and/or drinks bill. Very welcoming, dogs welcome and excellent food and beer at a good price. The view is really breathtaking and we will certainly attempt to book in the next time our calendar/trip aligns. Space for 2 outfits.

Absolutely wonderful service, came with a 6 month old baby for a meal and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Seated us in a lovely quiet corner away from the bar, gave us a high chair and even set us a baby cutlery place setting. Not to mention the food was outstanding, 5 star all round and will definitely be back!

Fantastic little place! Called in for lunch and got two delicious light courses for a tenner. Good range of ales in the cosy bar area, large and airy dining room and the most friendly and helpful noisy ever. Will definitely be back.

Regular traveler between London and the Highlands, the area around Richmond / Barnard Castle is a perfect overnight stop and I prefer to support local businesses. Found the Shoulder of Mutton on Google search and loved the name. Stayed there last week: tasty dinner, great draft ale, comfortable room, and a hearty breakfast with super friendly hosts and regulars. And what a view!

Lovely village pub, fantastic views from garden. Friendly staff, efficient service, delicious home cooked food, onion rings amazing, just a shame the locals don't move aside from the bar to let you order/pay the bill.
