Had been recommended for Sunday lunch and our visit did not disappoint. Staff were welcoming, atmosphere was relaxing, and the food was as good as expected. Between us we had steak, fish, and a vegetarian Wellington, all of which were cooked to perfection. Guys, look after Ruby - you’ve got a good one there! Communicated info about the dishes, drinks, and history of the pub very well. Look no further than this place if you’re in Lacock. Just mind your head if you’re tall!

Had a fantastic Sunday roast the beef was lovely. Attentive service without being overboard they brought a water bowl for my dog too. Very nice atmosphere with very tasteful decorations. The prices are not cheap but I think it was reasonable for the wonderful meal. I will definitely return again.

Delicious Sunday lunch, we had the pork roast with all the trimmings. Really good menu, food and dessert. Shorter drinks menu. Staff were accommodating and kindly spoken, so helpful (Ruby). Good for families we had 2 non walkers with us.
The outdoor bit looks nice too! Would visit again.

We truly enjoyed our dinner at Sign of the Angel.

We arrived a bit early for dinner service, so we decided to wait in the back garden and enjoy a drink. Maraya, our waitress, welcomed us, brought our drinks, and let us know when our table was ready.

Once inside the dining area, we were served by Darren, who was friendly and helpful.

The interior was very cozy and charming, and the food was excellent. We shared the calamari, followed by the shepherd’s pie, which was both hearty and delicious. And of course, we saved room for a wonderful apple crumble.

We really enjoyed our evening there and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality meal in a cozy setting.

Really, really disappointed with the service this evening.

As a Lacock resident, I come here often bringing visiting friends and family for meals which have always been exceptional.

We arrived at 6pm, and I gave them a quick call just to check if we could reserve a table for 2, to which I was told no, as they were closed…I questioned this, as their usual closing time (and as advertised) is 8pm, to which I was then told they only had one table available instead. I said that’s not a problem, as we were informed the kitchen was closed so were just going to have drinks.

Upon arrival, and much to my disappointment, the pub was practically empty aside from a couple of tables eating. I felt incredibly disheartened after being lied to on the phone.

Nevertheless, we ordered our drinks and stated it a shame that no food was available, which is when we overheard the table next to us ordering dessert, which would have been absolutely fine to us and nice if it was offered.

I then asked if we could order, to which I was told the cheese wasn’t available…

This has been my favourite pub for over 10 years, and I have spent thousands on meals in that time.

Unfortunately, unless the service drastically changes I will no longer be bringing my family and friends to visit.

I genuinely feel really sad to be writing this review as a long standing customer who’s only ever had positive things to say, the way I was made to feel this evening was totally unacceptable.

Avoid this place at all costs. I was told that the restaurant is not a café and that we had to order a full meal and a drink. A friend of mine, who doesn't drink coffee or tea, was told she had to order water. I found the staff to be rude and taking advantage of visitors. We chose to stay polite and not leave for another restaurant, but it was a disappointing experience.

Should be renamed sign of the devil. Appalling service. We got there with a booking to be informed that the chef "was leaving " so there were only sandwiches available and some light bites. We ordered a sausage roll for one adult and came a kid's portion in a kid's tiny plate (almost a miniature). When we said it was small their reply was "it's a light bite"- if that it the case it should be charged as such. They charged £8 for that! They also had the nerve to send us the bill with their service charge included for obtaining no service and no food. The wait was Appalling as there were hardly any people there. To top things we wanted to pay cash but they don't accept cash because "they need to go to the bank". Absolutely shameless, ridiculous, overpriced and awful. Would not recommend there are other pubs in the area we regretted not going to

I loved it with all my heart. The whole building is breathtaking. When you are there you feel like you are in a movie setting. Rooms are incredibly clean and cosy. When you are there you feel like you are in different world 🥰 staff are very friendly and kind. Place is pet friendly and everyone loved our dog. He could visit all building include restaurant. Egg Benedicts was pie favourite from the breakfast menu 😁 I only must say it's was incredible warm 🥵 on downstairs and you are not allowed to open a window because staff asking you quite quickly to close it. Would recommend take with you hand fan if. Believe me I do like keeping my flat at 22 degrees but this place was incredibly warm 😅🔥
