I was looking for a relaxing coastal hotel to treat my mum and came across this hidden gem searching online. I booked last minute and the staff were fantastic pushing the booking through. We were transported to a relaxing haven as we drove down through the narrow private drive with the Devon hedgerows lining the way. The setting is incredible- the dramatic hills feel like you are in the Middle Kingdom somewhere - it is very different from the gentle rolling hills that dominate the rest of the south hams. After walking up to the soar head we earned a refreshing drink in the bar. The head barman had an encyclopaedic knowledge of local ales as also ran his own wine business so provided excellent insight to the wine menu. We had our drinks in the lounge which was an oasis of calm with the neutral colours and nautical them framing the breathtaking panorama out to sea perfect. Dinner was exquisite with the perfect wine pairing. The delicious full English breakfast tasted even better after the early morning swim at the cove. The staff went overboard throughout our stay and we very much enjoyed the intimate feel of a hotel where the staff knew all the guests. The hotel was dog friendly too. Our stay was not long enough so I returned with the whole family later in the summer for some more time on the beach! Thank-you and very much look forward to coming back next summer!

What a lovely pre Christmas break!|I took my dog and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. |The room was clean and comfortable, the staff couldn’t do enough to make us happy and the food delicious, waiting staff perfect. |Bob was not only accommodated but everything was available to make staying with a dog easy whilst respecting those guests without dogs.|The position of the hotel is great for coastal and beach walks and within easy reach of Salcombe. |The swimming pool is a delightful addition, beautifully clean.|Thank you so much, we’ll be back!

We had a wonderful two night stay with our dogs. The Jenny Wren suite was perfect as it has an archway letting onto an area with two armchairs looking out onto the beautiful view. The fridge and the dogs' food were then tucked away out of sight of the main bedroom. The bedroom was extremely spacious with masses of storage. We made use of all the facilities on offer (swimming pool, gym, sauna) and also booked massages. The evening meal was very good (the ox cheek in particular!) and breakfast was excellent. A great spread of fruit, cold meats, cereals & pastries as well as a Full English and other cooked options.... including sausages for the dogs! Every member of staff was helpful and courteous. They couldn't have done more to make our stay very memorable.

We arrived early so popped into reception to see about ordering some coffees.
The receptionist was very friendly & helpful in showing us to the restaurant and in bringing forward our meeting.

First impressions…Wow! What stunning views from the outside terrace. We were given a tour and shown some fabulous photos of previous weddings. Exciting new works going on for 2025 too.

We recently returned to Soar Mill Cove for a tranquil weekend with our young family after first staying here during New Year while I was pregnant with our first daughter. We knew it wouldn’t disappoint, and it was exactly what we needed. It was so lovely to come back, this time with our two little girls in tow.||The fantastic food, chilled atmosphere, and opportunities to relax—whether swimming or treating myself to a massage—made this the perfect destination for a long weekend that suited everyone in the family. Soar Mill Cove has once again stolen a piece of our hearts. It’s such a wonderful place, with an easy walk down to the most quiet and picturesque cove. Despite being out of season, the girls had so much fun making sandcastles and going on adventures.||A special thank you to Will for being so helpful and attentive, and for making us all feel so welcome—our girls loved their marshmallow treats! Also, thank you to Rebecca; you both made our stay a truly enjoyable one.||We will most definitely be back!||Thank you!

Loved the location staff were excellent. If you want somewhere you can take your dog then this place will tick your boxes. However, if you're not a dog lover, you could struggle. I found that our room smelt very doggy, don't get me wrong. I love dogs but not in where I'm sleeping. The carpet was quite stained, and the general cleanliness of the room could have been a lot better .

My family and i have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay. The food, rooms and overall relaxing atmosphere at the hotel was just what we needed to recover from our hectic lives. I would like to acknowledge some of the staff that I feel made our stay all that more special, in particular Will, Mia and Rebecca .
