Wonderful B&B with great hosts. we stopped here as part of our Cotswold Way hike, organized through Macs Adventure so we didn't know what to expect. Charming location, delightful rooms. Breakfast was delicious. Would gladly stay again any time.

It could be that--because this place is set outside of town--the couple who run the place like to let guests know that the owners are in charge. My wife and I--along with another couple--stayed one night on our Cotswold Trail trek. Our room was fine: bed comfy, bathroom clean. We had the standard electric tea kettle (heats water for coffee or tea). But the Sodbury folks supplied only ONE small bottle of water. I inquired the Sodbury gentleman about getting another bottle of water. His reply: "No. If you need anything, you can walk down the street to the petrol station." Excuuuuse me, as Steve Martin would say....but I am talking about a bottle of water. I consider this a necessity. I was shocked. After breakfast, my wife asked the woman manager if it would be OK to read in the bright breakfast area. Her response: "No." She said that she was busy preparing for THE NEXT MORNING'S guests for breakfast and suggested my wife read in the darker lobby area. I'm not SURE about this, but I THINK the next breakfast guests would be eating about 23 hours LATER, giving the woman and her blunt husband plenty of time to clear plates and stuff. Stunned, my wife left the breakfast area and attempted to read in the dark area by the front desk. |But wait--there's more! Another hiker at breakfast (who had a very minimal amount of food) asked if she could have some scrambled eggs with a little salmon. The response: "You want another hot breakfast? You will have to pay." (Our stays included the traditional continental breakfast items AND one hot breakfast item such as a full English breakfast, or salmon and eggs. Since the woman asking for eggs with a little salmon had only had a sausage (PART of an English breakfast) she thought that maybe she could have a little more food. No and nope. The response was terse and very clear. |Would it have been so hard to whip up an egg with a little salmon? I think we paid enough. I think our hiker friend deserved a little more food.|Instead, we four left the place feeling that we were an annoyance rather than paying guests.|Here's a hint, Sodbury proprietors: A little bit can go a long way. Instead, I feel the need to relate our very mediocre experience. I think that--because this place is the closest to the Cotswold Trail--the owners think they can treat customers in a less-than-cordial way. Next time, we'll happily walk a little further to another inn.

This hotel has good bones and is well situated near Chipping Sodbury, on the Cotswolds Way... but it has seen better days. Still, the room we had was comfortable, the bed excellent, everything was clear, good shower. And excellent breakfast. Guy and Ellie were lovely, accommodating and informative hosts.

Stayed here one night whilst walking the Cotswolds Way. Located about 0.5 mile off the trail, it is set back off the busy main road so mitigating any traffic noise. Guy and Ellie have been running it for many years now and offer very comfortable accommodation and a good breakfast including full English if required as well as gluten free options.

We stayed one night while walking the Cotswold Way. The proprietors, Ellie and Guy, were nothing short of fantastic! Helpful friendly conversational entertaining and aiming to please. Breakfast was great. The spacious solarium was a joy to lounge in. We’d love to return.

My friend and I could not have felt more welcome after a day of hiking the Cotswold Way than we did when we arrived at The Sodbury House Hotel. Guy and Ellie make you feel right at home. The breakfast was sumptuous, delicious, and entirely customized by Ellie, who does the cooking, while Guy delivers the food and offers great conversation and helpful travel tips. A very relaxing, delightful stay and well situated if you are walking the Cotswold Way.

Guy and Ellie were wonderful hosts. They were very attentive and watched out for us. Guy offered to take our heavy bags upstairs--always such a relief. Totally above and beyond, Guy received a call from the pub that our credit card was left there. He went and picked it up and brought it to us before we knew it was missing.
