We called in here today as we are staying on a caravan park near by, the reviews looked great and pictures so we wanted to try it, it was disappointing really, my soup was only warm, and my daughters meal was just ok, ice creams nice from the visiting centre, interesting Roman coins and things. A nice place, food wasn’t great.

After spending far too long ringing around everywhere that either wasn't open, not serving food that day or not serving u til later on in the evening, we happened upon this spot. Serving food from 3pm onwards (potentially earlier but that's when we got there)...
The food was absolutely delicious!! Prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere was lovely. It's historically themed with the surrounding Roman history.
It was a perfect meal, a really wonderful experience and we will most definitely return! Highly recommend!
Also it's dog friendly 🐶😁

Love it here we have been four time’s in the last two month the staff are all friendly the food is great a lovely Bar with a good choice of beers there are loads of different ways you can stay here from self catering rooms they have shepherds huts with hot tubs camping, camper and motorhome pitches,there is a small museum showing what the area looked like when the Romans were here it has a little shop with essentials and ICE CREAM 🍦

Stayed here at the start of the Hadrian's Wall walk. The rooms were tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. All the staff were very helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Dinner was great all home cooked - the home made pie was exceptionally.
The highlight was breakfast - they made bagels and the were the best I have had - better than any I had in the US!
Highly recommend this as a holiday spot.

Absolutely excellent food and atmosphere with polite, welcoming staff. This is definitely a hidden gem of Northern Cumbria!
We were staying in the area on holiday and visited for my mother's birthday meal. We were particularly impressed with the quality of the food! Everything we ordered was spot on! 👌
Service was quick and the prices were reasonable.
Plus, it’s dog-friendly, which was the cherry on top for us. 🐶

We visited on a sunny evening in August. Menu is reasonable for a small place. We had the veg stew which was delicious. Staff are friendly and attentive. Excellent clean toilets. Dog friendly. The adjacent museum is interesting.
