Good place for friends and family traveling together. Very comfortable room/ bath and access to lovely gardens. Delightful and helpful hosts directed us to some of the local spots we could walk to. Great Dixter is a half mile away, we enjoyed the footpaths and little town nearby.

I had a very lovely time at South Grange! Abundant homemade breakfast, friendly welcoming and very nice atmosphere.

The B&B is just 10-15 minutes walking distance from shop/pub/bus station, and about 20 minutes walking distance from Great Dixter House and Garden, fast-flowing if tasting wild blackberries on the way.

In addition, the owners are keen gardeners and their garden is also part of the National Garden Scheme of gardens open for charity.

This B&B was in the same price range as the last one we stayed in where we wanted for nothing. Here we were met by chance on the front doorstep as the bell to the back was not working. We were taken into the kitchen and left standing for 10 minutes while the host talked on the telephone. Not a good start but then we were taken straight outside into the garden and offered a drink and cake. Although this was nice we were surprised not to have been shown to our room or told anything about our stay first. On going in aferwards, the hostess had returned but left her husband to show us to our room and make us welcome. This was true throughout our vsit and although the husband tried hard to welcome us, he found it difficult to do some of the simple things such as boiling an egg and had to provide a poached one for breafast instead.||It was obvious that this couple were heavily involved in village matters to the detriment of the good running of the B&B which was a shame as the place was quiet and peaceful and in a good location to visit surrounding places of interest such as Great Dixter, which was very close. Our bedroom was comfortable and well heated and in room drinks were provided but difficult to use as fresh milk was provided but went off before the morning. This reflected the whole stay in that the impression was of a place that once had been good but now lacked attention to the details. Also, once we had retired for the night, the owners were rummaging about in the cupboards in the room next door, keeping us awake until very late.||Breakfast was plentiful and satisfying. The large garden surrounding the property was very interesting and worth a walk round. Although a small matter, the stay was spoilt for me as when we came to pay, the lady of the house insisted the price she told us was £1 each higher than she had quoted us on the phone and what it stated, and still states, on their website. Unforgiveable.

My mother stayed at South Grange for a weekend birthday treat and she loved it. The room was very comfortable with a beautiful view of the fabulous garden, and Linda and Mike were exceptionally welcoming and kind. Would highly recommend a stay there.
