We had a long weekend as a belated birthday present for my wife. From start to finish it's been great stay. The reception staff are so nice and the log cabin was so comfortable. The whole site is well maintained and well organised. What really made the weekend was our meal at the waterside on Saturday 21st. I'm sorry I didn't ask his name but our waiter for the evening was first class and as I've said in previous reviews, the staff can make or break the experience and he certainly made it along with the lady behind the bar. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was faultless. The meal was brilliant and well priced. I had the bacon chop topped with black pudding, egg and pineapple and it was really good. Well done chef. A good experience overall and a well deserved five stars

We went for a family celebration and had 4 chalets. All were clean and well kitted out. The grounds are well looked after. As the lodges are all private owned they were unique and felt homely. Some were better than others, but I think the pricing reflected that.

Overall a great holiday. Immaculately clean park, lovely lodge, nice bar and restaurant, beautiful location. ||Here's how it could be better||£100 deposit upon arrival. Which takes up to five days and a phone call to get back. Literally no other holiday park is doing this. It leaves guests with a sour taste in their mouth right from the start of their holiday. The lady on the desk said everyone complains about it. So maybe listen to what customers are telling you? For the cost to administer the whole thing, and the impact to customer experience you might as well take any damage on the chin and trust people will be grown ups and not trash your lodge. Very weird. ||The restaurant opening times are a bit off. They don't serve food after 4pm and closed completely on Monday and Tuesday. We departed on Monday morning and were hoping to get breakfast before we hit the road with one last look over the lake. Never mind I guess. ||Swimming is an extra cost and children can't swim after 5:30. We booked purposely because they had a pool. Again for the sake of £15 per family per day why not just include it in the holidays cost and improve everyone's experience? I'd also consider allowing children to swim right the way up until the pool closes at 7. Most young children probably wouldn't use it at that time and what are you getting out of blocking older children like pre teens going in after 5:30? Also odd. ||There is no playground which we knew when we booked. But a little swing set, tiny climbing frame, a goalposts would have entertained the children for a bit. ||There aren't bin stores anywhere else on the park except right at the front near reception. You see guests carting their rubbish bags all the way back through the park. Would it be that difficult to put a few through the place? Most other parks do. ||There were no toiletries in the lodge. Not even a bar of soap. We got a lovely complimentary bottle of fizz, orange juice and chocolates on arrival. Would it have been too much to put a tiny soap in each loo? ||There was a really weird sign at the sink saying don't remove the washing up liquid from the lodge which was a tiny refillable bottle. Look, nobody is going to steal the washing up liquid guys. Chill.

Stayed in 9b Arnside. Lodge was lovely. All utensils and everything you would require for a break. We couldn't turn the fire on as there were two on switches, but contacted desk and they replied instantly. |House is upside down. With bedrooms on ground floor. We had to buy a heater for children's bedroom as it was ice cold at night. Tado heating set and pin locked so can't be changed. |Swimming pool on site for 1 hour swim cost £25 , you have to pay seperate, no changing rooms. |Pictures show TV in bedrooms, there is no TV downstairs which was not great for kids at night. WiFi is good and TV upstairs has Netflix etc.. |Overall good and great location. Really peaceful, apart from cold bedrooms, swimming and TV.

Goose Home lodge hosted by Herdwick cottages on airbnb is definately a comfortable lodge, with smart and well presented fittings and furniture, and was sparkling clean. It is located in a quiet part of the park, with very easy access to the restaurant, swimming pool and Spa.
However, i cannot excuse the poor quality, cheap and flimsy mattresses on the beds. The Mattresses offered zero support and the metal springs and wiring dug into you all night.

The mattresses look new and were clean....but they were definitely the cheapest quality that one can buy. This is not in keeping with the rest of the lodge, but is the single most important and essential part of a stay.
I've stayed in many lodges across the UK around this price band and have never experienced such poor quality, low cost mattresses. Note, this is not about whether the mattresses were too hard or too soft....but is about the cheap quality of the mattresses, making for very uncomfortable nights, which ruined the entire stay.
Very disappointed.

Disappointing Stay – Poor Communication and Damp Accommodation

We booked a long weekend in a lodge that was supposed to have two double beds and additional single beds. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected.

Upon arrival, we were surprised to be asked for a £100 deposit—something that hadn’t been mentioned anywhere in the booking process. While we were happy to pay, better communication would have avoided the confusion.

Things got worse when we entered the lodge and were immediately hit with a strong smell of damp, especially in the main bedroom. Visible patches of damp were present on the walls and ceiling (photos attached). We contacted the office, and after some delay, a handyman arrived. Before even stepping inside, he insisted the smell was due to the drains. Despite our explanation that the smell was clearly from damp, not the bathroom, he spent over 30 minutes insisting it was the drains, then claimed it was the heating.

When we said we couldn’t stay in a place with such a terrible smell, we were told there was nowhere else to move us because the park was fully booked. We asked to speak with a manager but had to go up to the office ourselves after waiting 20 minutes, as it was now 6pm.

Eventually, we were moved to another lodge. While this one didn’t smell of damp, it didn’t have the two double beds we had originally paid for, and it was located in a much less desirable part of the park.

Overall, this was not the relaxing weekend we had hoped for. Between the poor communication, the condition of the first lodge, and the lack of proper resolution, we were left very disappointed. We won’t be returning.
