Stayed here for 4 nights mid week (gifted stay).||The staff were all friendly & very efficient. Our room & bathroom were both very clean, with a large, comfy bed with good pillows (a bit on the firm side but that wasn't a problem for us). The breakfast service was very good, a nice selection of cereals, some fruit, pastries, yoghurt with granola & fruit compote, & good cooked options including vegetarian. At dinner the food & service were both very good and we very much enjoyed our meal.||The reason for knocking off a star was that our room (room 8) was really stuffy & airless. There was a desk fan provided which we set up by the window to try & get some cool air in, but it wasn't enough to cool it down enough to sleep comfortably (it was 22C outside so not heatwave conditions). The room was also very close to the refuse area so we were woken every morning by bin lorries. The hotel has a newer looking extension where each ground floor room has an small outside area to sit in, so these will likely be quieter & hopefully better ventilated - so I would request one if you can. If our room had had air conditioning it would have been a much more comfy stay (appreciate that this is expensive to install). ||The garden areas haven't really been exploited to their full potential - there are large green spaces with picnic tables dotted about, & paved areas with tables & parasols, but although all were well maintained and clean, somehow they didn't feel particularly welcoming - perhaps some more planters & greenery would improve things. ||All in all this is a really good 3* hotel, but not one we would choose again as it's not our sort of place. Most of the guests were a good 10 - 15 years older than us & many were obviously repeat visitors, so the hotel are obviously doing a great job for that age group.

Lovely weekend at south lawn hotel. Staff friendly and attentive. Breakfast and Sunday lunch were nice enough. Room clean and spacious. Bed was really comfy, so we slept really well. Mini fridge came in handy, too. The bathroom had a large bath with an over shower. Water temp and pressure were great. We arrived on Sat 21st June, which was an extremely hot day. A fan was blowing in our room on arrival, which was a nice touch, but an air con system would have been amazing as it was stiflingly hot. I suppose we don't get enough hot days in the UK to warrant the expense of fitting in all rooms. The village was beautiful with plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. A lovely walk around the local Sturt Pond where we were able to watch the beautiful wildlife and observe some birds from a bird watching hut. The local beach was lovely, too, with beautiful beach huts for hire. Would definitely recommend and return.

What a great find for my wife, dog and myself. Can't fault this hotel. Being a grumpy 80 year old man, I usually find something to moan about, but not here.
Lovely attentive staff. Great breakfasts and superb dinners. I've had three extremely tasty evening meals.
Very spacious comfortable quiet room with access to the gardens, which is very dog friendly. We're about to make another two bookings for September.
I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

This was our first visit to this lovely hotel and it didn’t disappoint. The room was very spacious and clean, the staff were all very friendly and the meals that we had in the evening and breakfast were excellent. The only reason for 4 stars is because our room, super king with patio was extremely hot even with the fan on so it made for a difficult nights sleep. We will return again but perhaps in cooler weather.

Our third visit this year (as well as numerous times last year and the year before). We just love coming back and feel so comfortable and at home here. Staff always make us welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Have recommended to several friends who are now "South Lawns converts" Cannot praise the running of this hotel, cleanliness and food enough.

Hotel rooms in the new wing are comfortable and modern, and include a refrigerator which we find very useful.|The lounge area is extensive and nicely furnished making a welcoming place to chat and relax and perhaps enjoy a drink from adjacent bar.|Plenty of car parking space and attractive grounds surrounding the hotel. Short walk to Milford on Sea, a charming traditional seaside village. Many other interesting places to visit within short car drive. Over the years we have come to know the whole area very well and will be returning later this year.|
