If I could give it 0 stars I would. Had this place booked for a night away with my best friend which we were very looking forward too as we dont get to meet up very often anymore with children now. She suddenly unexpectedly took ill with a ruptured brain aneurism and was took into hospital care. I tried to cancel and get a refund but was declined by the owner. Which is very disappointing. Then the next day 'the morning of our check out' I received a message to ask to leave their services a review. Very insensitive under the circumstances. Don't like to bad mouth businesses looking at the reviews customers who managed to make there trip had a good time staying here, come on really? No refund and she got took in for an emergency operation to luckly save her life. Shocking!

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Durham City Retreat. The accommodation was incredibly comfortable, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of busy meetings. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. The location couldn't have been better—everything I wanted to see and do was just a short walk away. I highly recommend this charming retreat to anyone visiting Durham!

The door to the bedroom was dirty as was the bathroom door, both needed a coat of paint. There was no bedside lamp. It was cold. Worse of all was the fact that there was no curtain in the room so when the sun appeared at around 5am it was broad daylight with little chance of sleeping.
