We recently had the pleasure of staying at Spalite Hotel, and our experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, our host, welcomed us with open arms. His warmth and hospitality set the tone for what would be an unforgettable stay.

The room was immaculate, reflecting a level of care and attention to detail that is truly rare. Everything was beautifully maintained, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into making our stay as comfortable as possible. Little touches, like the fresh milk waiting for us in the fridge and the generous assortment of coffee and tea, made us feel right at home.

Spalite Hotel exceeded all our expectations, and we can't recommend it highly enough. Whether you're visiting Gloucestershire for a short stay or an extended visit, you won't find a more welcoming and accommodating place. For us, it was an 11 out of 10 experience. We traveled from Barcelona to explore the area, and our one night at Spalite Hotel was truly lovely—an experience we’ll remember fondly.

Best hospitality I've had in a while. Needed emergency accommodation and was greeted at 23:30 on a Tuesday night, got the family suit at a discounted price since it was just me, very comfortable and neat. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. Got provided with a phone charger and fast WiFi, and offered breakfast but had to leave early. Really saved me as all else was closed or full. Will definitely return.

Had an excellent 2 night stay with friends. The owner/manager Spencer was so friendly and welcoming from the messages and information provided prior to my arrival to being so attentive and on-the-ball throughout our stay. Slept really well - lovely comfy beds and bedding. I stayed in a room with a separate shower/bath (not ensuite) - the shower was really good. Handy to have a sink in the room too. Good selection of provided tea, coffee, biscuits and even fresh milk! Breakfast was delicious and superb value. Also nice to have the use of a lounge bar with an impressive selection of drinks available and enjoyable chat with Spencer too. Added to a great location and you have a place full of character (especially compared to chain hotels) and great value. Will defintely book here the next time I visit Gloucester. Spot on!

This is our 3rd visit to the spalite and have always enjoyed the stay, rooms have always been spotlessly clean. Bedding always fresh and laundered. Tea and coffee always replenished in the rooms. Clean and fresh towels daily. Toiletries plenty of and replenished. If anything needs replacing in the room just ask, nothing is ever a problem for Michelle and Spencer perfect hosts all the time 10/10

Great value for money. Room was clean and well equipped. Generous provision of tea and coffee. Breakfast was great and again, great value for money. Within walking distance of numerous restaurants. No on-site parking, but managed to park nearby without problem.

I went to Gloucester for a business trip with a colleague and the Spalite looked like a cosy place with great reviews. Except one about bed bugs. That's why we checked the bed when we arrived and immediately found two in the bed box. We went down and spoke to the very friendly receptionist who said that she could totally understand that we wouldn't stay and will cancel the booking. Two days later we got this message: "Good evening. You turned up at our Hotel, Within 30 minutes, you had totally wrecked 1 room, and didn't either bother looking at the other. All you found were some dead bugs - This means that our treatment of the rooms works. If one customer brings them in - the chemicals we use kills them - simple as that. The bugs ( which were old and died a long time ago ) seem to have been strategically placed. I have called out pest control and they found nothing. Apparently you found a few DEAD insects somewhere and left of your own accord stating that you had had a bad experience in the past, If you have paranoia - you can get help for that. As you decided to leave and there is not a bed bug problem, I am not cancelling the reservation. You went to leave without even informing us of a reason why. The " receptionist " was acting manageress and informed you of our process which eliminates any type of insects.The fact that you only found dead ones is testimony as to how well our pest control works.

Looking for a hotel close to venue that we were going to and this hotel was spot on. A 5 minute walk to the venue. The owners are excellent, they even went and got plum tomatoes for my breakfast, as I don’t like fresh with breakfast. The place was simple but clean and had all the amenities needed to have a comfortable stay. The price of the stay was very affordable and would recommended to stay and will use again if we stay in Gloucester again in the future

Comfy rooms with everything you'd want. Good beds. I slept so comfortably in them!!

Very friendly owners.

Very close to the dock area with loads of restaurants etc.

Only caveat: That road is noisy on a weekend night. Ask for one of the few rear-facing rooms or bring very good ear plugs.
