Staff and room view lovely but bed was so uncomfortable. Kids being allowed to run around corridors at all hours was unpleasant.
Service in bar/upstairs food area very slow. And food orders put on hold at 5pm. When reopened only option was pizza which was very disappointing.
Booked short break, good value for money.

We are regular guests at Alton towers visiting multiple times a year for the past 10 years and mainly stay at Splash Landing but have stayed in all the accommodations exc the tree top accommodation. We are pretty relaxed and don't let little things ruin our time away and always try to make any situation positive. Again we had a great time and enjoyed all the facilities and the staff are always so lovely and helpful. However the decline in the facilities is really apparent this visit. We arrived 1st January the hotel was so filthy cups and plates of food discarded in the corridors. The bar area was filthy every table had piles and piles of plates and food. I'm not sure if the hotel had a larger group of guests that just didn't know what a bin was but it filthy! We had made breakfast reservation on 2/01 the que was bigger than I have been in at peak summer holiday time. This was because people were allowed to simply walk past the que and in who believe they have so much entitlement and no moral that they think walking past a que is their right!! I felt sorry for the 1 member of staff trying to manage it herself. The food quality and quantity has declined too. Other issues no iron/ironing board in our room. No little fish soaps or minis they usually have either.

We went in off season when schools were on. I won’t even lie, we loved the place. It was perfect for positioning just outside the park itself. The theming was spot on and I loved the smell of the swimming pool in the centre (weird I know). Room was big enough for 4 and was only two of us so perfect! Parking was great. And generally the room was clean. Advise cleaning of carpets in hallways as looking dated. Entertainment at night was okay - wasn’t necessary really so a positive nonetheless. Food at the hotel seemed a bit boring but was fairly priced at around £10 for a pizza. Instead, we ordered food in from just eat which was no problem to eat accompanied by drinks from the bar. ||Hotel also offered a fairly large arcade room which I can imagine would be great fun to families (when schools are not in). ||Park entry was at rear entrance and about 5 minutes walk. ||Lastly, breakfast in the morning… |This was included and had loads of choice! Cannot complain!||Would recommend to any couples looking for a stay when the place is quieter. ||* I would like to see water park tickets reduced in price for people staying at hotel (I think this would make fair sense).

It’s always been a bit rough and ready this place and nothings changed in ten years: the rooms are very simple indeed, the restaurant staff are inexperienced and often not trained to provide good service, the clientele is very up and down with so many kids running the hallways at night and very loud late night returnees too (the hotel needs security staff to control and reduce this). The food was actually alright in truth although really basic. All round it’s a novel experience that doesn’t need to be repeated more than once every ten years!

We stayed for my daughter’s 8th birthday treat! On entrance the hotel is lovely. The rooms were quite small but we were hardly in there. The double beds are very uncomfortable especially while pregnant it’s like sleeping on an ironing board. The bunkbeds were ‘made’ to a fashion. The rooms could use a major overhaul and cleaned properly. ||Flambo jambos was highly overpriced for the food which was actually served. £30 an adult and £12/13 for a child. The food while it was mixed orientated was very limited offering 1 or 2 options of the different food options. The breakfast was much the same. The sausages had a distinct taste. Wouldn’t rush back there for food any time soon. ||The splash park was amazing though offering lots of things to keep both adults and children entertained for hours. The food options there are also extortionate prices so be prepared to either take your own food or pay overpriced for food that barely meets standards and lacks taste. ||The pantomime. While this was a lovely thought it lacked enthusiasm. To the extent my partner fell asleep while watching. ||The theme park fantastic morning out for the kids. I say morning as it takes maximum of 2/3 hours for the kids to of done all the rides and become irritable. We have found Drayton manors Thomas land a much cheaper and more enjoyable day out. ||More seating is needed desperately around the entertainment area.

Disappointing Breakfast Experience at Splash Landings Hotel

We stayed at Splash Landing Hotel from June 8th to June 9th, 2024, and while the hotel itself has a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, our experience was ruined by poorly managed breakfast arrangements.

When booking, it was stated that breakfast was included, but it was not made clear that guests had to book a time slot in advance. Thankfully, I checked the website before arriving and booked the only available slot at 8:00 AM, which is quite early for a weekend.

The real disappointment came in the morning. We arrived at 8:20 AM, only to be turned away because we had “missed our slot,” even though the breakfast session ran until 9:00 AM and there were plenty of empty tables. The staff were unhelpful and rigid, making what should have been a relaxing morning unnecessarily stressful.

For a resort that prides itself on being family-friendly, this experience felt anything but. The lack of clear information, flexibility, and customer service let the hotel down.

Advice for future guests: Double-check the breakfast booking policy before you go!

Would I stay here again? Unlikely, unless they fix their booking system and train staff to handle such situations better.

We stayed here during fright night and it was so much fun. The hotel was nice and clean, good breakfast, although could be healthier. |Peter was very friendly and made us feel welcome from the first second we entered the building. |Make sure you check out the waterpark.

Overall experience was average, our room was excellent (stayed in the ice age room), but the beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. The noise of children running up and down the corridors knocking on doors woke us all up multiple times in the night. The buffet food (dinner), was disgusting and so so overpriced (£27 per adult!) We absolutely love alton towers but by all means will not be staying at this hotel again, especially after paying £900 for two nights which is crazy money and not worth it, when we could of stayed at the closest Premier inn which have comfy beds, great breakfast and is a lot cheaper than this hotel.
