St Blanes House, self-catering - Isle of Bute

I organise a weekend away every year for a big group of friends. We've stayed in places all over Scotland and the north of England and we all agreed that this is the one of, if not the best house we've ever stayed in!

From the beautiful view, to the fun themed bedrooms, endless amount of activities in the house like karaoke, table tennis, bikes and games, to the convenient bus to Rothesay that stops just outside the front door.

What really makes St Blanes House special is how much Helen has thought about making everything easier for large groups. With lots of suggestions and research on activities and catering, labels and instructions on everything in the house, and even suggestions on how to make dividing up the tidying up at the end easier!

Thanks so much for letting us stay, we had simply the best weekend on beaut' Bute! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What an incredible place to stay for large groups of people, perfect for family or informal corporate events. Lots of rooms which are well equipped, large kitchen, bar & lounge. We enjoyed getting together with friends, visiting the local area, walking & cycling.

A beautiful part of Scottish history that isn't as well known as it should be. We walked round the coast from Kilchattan Bay to get to it but some parking is available for a much shorter trip to it. We'll worth a visit!

I can't recommend staying at St Blanes House highly enough.
I celebrated here 7 years ago with a big group of friends from university and returned 7 years later to celebrate my 30th Birthday. Still a hidden gem and Helen is so easy to communicate with and very welcoming.

Amazing location, amazing house!
Long remote walks, sea swims, much time in the local pub, back for big dinner parties and finishing with some partying into the early hours of the morning on the karaoke machine.

This house would suit a big family reunion, a big group of friends adventuring and celebrating and everything in between.

10/10. I may well be back...hopefully not 7 years wait this time though.

There were 22 of us in total staying for the three nights (including one baby/one toddler). Our age range was 6 months to 85 years, and everyone of us had a spectacularly memorable trip, with us each taking away our own special memories of our family time spent together. The house was warm and welcoming on our arrival, the beautiful bouquet of flowers in the hallway, the welcome basket in the kitchen and especially the heating already being on all added to the homely feel. Small gestures but very much appreciated. The scale of the accommodation was phenomenal, never at anytime did we feel pushed for space and family members looking for some solitude could always find a quiet area to retreat to. As a family, we are immersed in the joy of catering for large family gatherings and as such had a full menu planned for the entire weekend-having fully shopped for same in advance. Never did we anticipate the extensive kitchen resources available to us, which made all of our mealtimes so much easier and much less stressful than anticipated to produce. We have never experienced this before in any rental properties. My own favourite was the wood burner which I absolutely loved, and having the huge delivery of fire wood (from a local sawmill) meant we could keep it topped up for the entire day, adding to the cozy atmosphere within the house. Our dogs were also made to feel so welcome, and had so much room to roam around, inside and out - having the beach area on the doorstep was a thrill for them, and brought great joy to us all seeing them explore the lovely coastline of Kilchattan Bay. The bar area with sound system/karaoke was very popular with the young adults, with them even getting a tune out of some of the instruments. You have a very special property in St Blane’s, and for us as a family it would certainly be a treat to return.

St Blanes is one of the most magnificent places I have ever had a chance to stay at. With the stunning scenery, picturesque walking paths and places everyone should visit (Mount Stuart) the spectacular house will make your stay in Rothesay even more special. My family and I were absolutely blown away with the beauty of the house and wonderfully designed rooms. The house was spotless, there's a fully equipped kitchen, bar and games room and even a room for your dog (which we didn't use but I think it's a superb idea). We couldn't be more impressed with St Blanes and we'll definitely be back! Huge thanks to our wonderful host!

The building is beautiful and located in a similarly breathtaking location. The area is peaceful, scenic and full of tourist attractions. It sleeps 25+ people with several individually themed rooms. Some even have four post, queen sized beds. The service is top class, friendly, polite and on point for information. It's self served as a holiday let but the owners do a remarkable job hosting their guests. 11/10 rating, would return in a heartbeat.

Beautiful location and very good facilities within the property! Had a fantastic family holiday staying here for 7 nights. There were 14 adults, 2 teenagers, 1 child plus two dogs and we all had a blast!
