Everything is brilliant about St. Mary's Guest House in York! Location is perfect - just 10 min stroll along the river front into the centre. Beds very comfy. Breakfast pentiful, cooked to order and delicious. Manager, Caroline, is wonderful. Parking inexpensive and easy. We would highly recommend this for a city break.

This was our very first stay after arriving in the UK, and I’m so glad we chose this place!

*Communication*
I communicated with the staff via email prior to our arrival. They were very quick to respond and answered all my questions thoroughly. Our train was slightly delayed, and we were worried since this location does not have a 24-hour reception. However, they accommodated our needs seamlessly through email, which was a huge relief.

*Breakfast*
The breakfast was incredible—homemade food and delicious coffee! The staff were exceptionally kind and attentive, which made the experience even better.

*Location*
The location was very convenient, just a short 10-minute walk from the train station. The area felt quiet and safe, which was perfect for our family.

We traveled as a family and had a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone planning a trip!

A great B&B to stay in!

Our room was very clean and spacious, with adequate facilities and was situated in a very quiet location.

The location of the B&B itself is very handy, being just a short walk to all the main attractions in York, whether you turn left or right as you go out of the main entrance.
Handily, if you have a lot of luggage, it's just a short walk to the railway bridge footpath and on to the rail station just over the river.

The extremely friendly staff made us feel welcomed. We checked in while reception was still open and got great friendly detailed information on the room facilities and door operation.

I could not fault the breakfast, and even my slightly non standard meal request was catered for with a smile!

I normally stay in budget hotels and this was my first B&B stay, but this whole experience has changed my attitude (for the better!) to this mode of accommodation.

I would have no hesitation in recommending St Mary's Guesthouse to anyone for your accommodation needs when staying in York.

Stayed two nights & was very satisfied. Caroline, the manager or Queen Bee as she is known is fabulous. She loves her job & it shines through her work & smile. Fabulous breakfast. Reasonable price. It’s on a pretty & quiet street. We enjoyed York very much.

This was a fantastic place to stay during our visit to York. The location was great - only a very short walk along the river to get into the city. Our room was comfortable and very clean. The staff were amazing! All the staff we met were very friendly, helpful and made us feel really welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was lovely and there was a nice choice. We were always asked if we would like anything extra. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend this guest house to others.

I travelled on my own up to York therefore needed somewhere that was close to everything. This ticked the boxes. |On arrival I was met by two lovely ladies. |My room was spacious enough and very clean. The bed was so comfy it was hard to get up in the mornings. |The breakfast was delicious. Non greasy. Nothing was too much trouble. ||Location wise it's ideal. It's a 10 min walk from the train station (through the station) 5/10 mins walk to the park where St Mary's Abbey and garden mesuem are and 2 minute walk to the river. You can get to the City centre either by the river, park (which does close early evening) or the main road took about 10/15min walk to the Abbey. Again you can walk to the Castle mesuem and the city walls. ||Highly recommend St Mary's.

We had an amazing time at St Mary's Guest House. The rooms are spacious, very clean and super comfortable, although a little dated. The breakfast was great and very filling with fruit cocktail and a cooked breakfast with toast!! And last but not least, the staff is absolutely lovely Christina and the other ladies were a delight, welcoming and accommodating: thank you so much for being so nice !! Close to the station but far enough away to have a nice quiet walk without the crowds. Would definitely stay again.

Absolutely fantastic guest house. Special credit to Cristina (Crystal) who really made us feel welcome. The room was really clean and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious in a nice calm atmosphere with plenty of choice of breakfast items. I had the full English each morning and it was spot on.

The location is perfect - only a 10 minute walk to the city centre and a 7 minute walk to York Railway Station.
