This very dog friendly hotel was excellent. The staff were absolutely wonderful, the most helpful and friendliest we have ever experienced, nothing was too much trouble, particularly Gill who went way beyond the call of her duty for us. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower really easy to use, even for non-tech oldies like us. Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. The location is right in the middle of Lymington, which is perfect for those without a car. Gorgeous gardens. Would totally recommend this hotel. Wendy, Graham and Mary

The hotel itself has been elegantly updated and refurbished. However, we feel let down by the fact we were placed in a loft room that was stiflingly hot without aircon and adequate ventilation. I feel the receptionist knew this before letting us stay as I have seen similar reviews in hindsight. Despite the staff being helpful and polite we feel deceived somewhat. Room 37 should simply not be marketed if people can't sleep at all.

We live locally and always lovely to call in for morning coffee or afternoon tea. Unexpected visit on Saturday evening with friends. We sat outside the bi-fold doors were fully open for the guests in the Dining room to appreciate the beautiful weather and garden. Both couples had the sharing board from the sea, it looked and tasted magnificent. At £32 fantastic value we will most certainly return to repeat the experience. Also must compliment all the staff who went above and beyond to ensure everyone were served in a timely and professional manor. A very memorable evening shared with friends. Our little gem in lymington thank you

I have been here now three times within one month and that says it all really. Twice for a cream tea and once for lunch. ||If it had not been recommended, I probably would have walked past the establishment. ||Once inside you are greeted by genuinely friendly and attentive staff. We booked tables on the first two occasions but you can simply turn up if you so wish. You can either sit in the restaurant, the orangery, or outside where there is an extensive patio/garden area - perfect on a warm, summer day. The restaurant/orangery has an upmarket feel about it but you can dress casually. ||The wait for drinks/food is reasonable and is all very well presented. The pricing is reasonable too. ||With regard to the cream teas we had, the scones were warm and fresh, the jams tasted homemade and the cream was the proper clotted variety. The tea (which ever type you choose) was loose leaf and you are provided with individual strainers. We were also provided with proper napkins and not the usual paper serviettes. ||When visiting for lunch, we had fish and chips. The fish was huge and the batter coating was lovely and crunchy. The chips were perfectly cooked and this came with half a lemon, tartare sauce, fresh mushy peas. Again, all nicely presented. ||The toilet facilities are exceptionally clean and had a luxurious feel along with nice hand soap and hand cream etc. ||I am definitely looking forward to returning for the evening menu. ||Give it a go and see for yourself - you won’t be disappointed!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Stanwell Hotel in Lyndhurst with my wife, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel.

One of the highlights of our stay was the excellent gluten-free food selection. It’s often challenging to find places that cater to dietary needs, but the Stanwell Hotel went above and beyond. Every meal was delicious, and we appreciated the thoughtful menu options that made dining a joy for both of us.

We particularly loved eating in the beautiful orangery. The natural light and surrounding greenery created a delightful ambiance, making our meals feel even more special. The spacious outside garden, adorned with flowering wisteria, was a serene spot to relax and enjoy a drink together after our meals.

The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that our experience was nothing short of perfect. Our room was comfortable and well-appointed, providing a lovely retreat after a day of exploring the stunning New Forest.

Overall, our stay at the Stanwell Hotel was exceptional, and we can't recommend it enough! If you're looking for a romantic getaway or a peaceful escape, this hotel is a wonderful choice. We can’t wait to return!

Our second stay at Stanwell. Beautiful top floor large room, road facing, with separate sofa seating area, two tvs, well appointed and elegant bathroom. Bed a little hard but it was so hot that we slept on top of the duvet. Fan provided in room. Housekeeping top notch. Everything spotless. Really liked this room. ||Used room service. Really very good sharing platter arrived. Garden very well maintained with the garden bar open, plenty of shady seating and also the pizza oven providing tasty food. Nice relaxed place to enjoy a drink. Maybe less frenetic music considering the general more mature age of clientele. Overall service was really good and efficient here. ||Breakfast was tasty, hot and good. Breakfast service on the first two mornings of our three night stay was not good at all though. On both days we were not asked if we wanted drinks or toast as we sat down. We were not offered sauces, no one came to clear the quite small table as it became cluttered with used plates. We had to ask for everything, orange juice repeatedly ran out and it was clear that the staff on duty on these two days were not on the ball or not trained well. Day three; the staff (different girls) were the polar opposite, asked us what drinks we would like, offered toast and sauces and came to see if everything was good, cleared the table etc. All on point. Needs to be consistent, especially for the price point of the room. ||A customers dog was creating a lot of noise in the hotel but it was dealt with swiftly and decisively. We appreciated that. ||Standout service from Phoebe at reception who could not be more helpful or kind and also the lovely tall man who does housekeeping for helping us with cases when we left. Porters on arrival would be good when lots of stairs are involved. ||Marked down because breakfast service was really not good but overall we had a lovely time at our favourite hotel in the area.

I love Stanwell House & have been there many times now with either friends & family. Today I came with my husband, we sat in the garden which is a lovely oasis away from the High Street. We spoke to a member of staff when we arrived, were given menus & advised to sit wherever we like & she would be with us. We waited 20 minutes & eventually went back to the orangery to ask for service. A very nice lady took our drinks & food order … another 20 minutes passed & our drinks arrived, apparently our order had been lost between the till & the bar/kitchen. Another 20 minutes & our food arrived. A delicious Ruben (my go to !) & a Monk Dog - both meals were delicious- would definitely recommend. We decided not to risk the wait for another drink so went to the till to pay ….. now they couldn’t find our order on the till! After another embarrassing wait (we actually asked them to deal with the queue of customers that were now waiting to pay ) they managed to sort it & we could pay and be on our way.|I will return as I sincerely hope this was just a system blip - next time the customer might not be so patient!

Decided to take my wife away for her birthday to lymington.
Decided to book 2 nights after experiencing the restaurant last year.
The room was superb, and the deal included breakfast.
The massive plus is the staff, every single one of them greeted and “spoke” with a smile on the face. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
The food was nothing short of sensational and realistically priced.
In fact, it was so good we stayed an extra night.

The whole team are a credit to this superbly run hotel, of which is up there with some of the best around.

Special mention to Joseph at reception (sadly moving on having completed his masters degree) and Sharon. They contributed massively to our enjoyment. But this must not detract from the rest of the hotel team

Go up
