I recently stayed at the Steeton Hall Hotel for a short B&B getaway, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Nestled in the peaceful village of Steeton, the hotel combines historic charm with modern comfort.

The room was clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated, with a very comfortable bed and a great view of the well-maintained grounds. It felt cozy and quiet — perfect for a relaxing night’s sleep. The bathroom was spotless and well-stocked with essentials.

Breakfast was a real highlight. The full English was freshly prepared and delicious, with quality ingredients and generous portions. There were also lighter options like fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereals, catering well to all tastes.

The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout my stay — attentive without being intrusive, and always happy to help with local recommendations or any requests.

The overall atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great choice for both solo travelers and couples looking for a peaceful retreat with a personal touch. I’d definitely return and would recommend Steeton Hall Hotel to anyone looking for a charming B&B experience in the Yorkshire area.

The food was good we ordered one small size scampi and one large. The small one was pretty much the same size as the large except had less scampi (maybe 4 or 5 less pieces) both were a good size. Plenty of food. You would need to decide though if you think the difference in price is worth the few extra pieces of scampi. For us it was fine . The chips, peas and tartare sauce were all the same. The food was served hot and quickly. It was enjoyable. I would return.

This is the second event I have been to at Steeton Hall in the last couple of months and I can not recommend this place enough. Absolutely fantastic Venue, the service is second to none and the food, well it just gets better and better! Serving that many people for a wedding, and everything piping hot, and with very generous portions, you certainly won't feel disappointed!
Angela does a fantastic & professional job, and not without a great team behind her. Keep it up guys 🙏

My daughter was married here yesterday, and I'm probably a little biased, but everyone I spoke to said it was the best wedding they've ever been to. Angela and the team had everything organised to the nth degree. Seamless transitions from ceremony to meal to disco in the evening. Nothing was too much trouble. 55 guests were served good hot food promptly and with great care. The rooms were warm and the beds were extremely comfortable. It's a beautiful building with a rich history. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Went to Steeton Hall for Sunday lunch after having a weekend away. I have to say it was disappointing. The signs were there when it was Mother’s Day yet the restaurant was mostly empty, with no atmosphere. The table was sticky and they took forever to ask and then bring drinks. When the drinks arrived the order was wrong. The food menu was limited but the fish and chips was ok, if a bit greasy. The leek gratin was strange. It had no cheese which I feel is unusual for a gratin. The topping looked like dried sage and onion stuffing mix and didn’t taste much better. The worst thing was not the new waiter making an odd mistake but the berating he got in front of us “Poor Freddie”. At least take him out back and speak to him! Then when I mentioned that we could get 10% off due to where we were staying I got a finger pointed at me and said “I know him!” which was a touch on the rude side. We are unlikely to ever go again, but if in the area I would definitely go elsewhere.

This is a review for the accommodation, not the food (which was good). We stayed one night here. The room was fine; clean and comfortable but the floors are VERY squeaky; and the problem is that you hear everything (and at time feel everything) from neighbouring rooms.

The floors are not the ‘fault’ of the operators. Yes, it’s an old property and it would be a hugely expensive task to rectify.

When the people next door got into bed, we felt it through the wall. When they got up, we felt it. When they walked around their room, our floor shook.

The proprietors do notify in advance (in the booking information) of the creaky floors and request that guests be aware and tread carefully on the landings outside the bedrooms but I think people generally don’t read the fine print and even if they do — as we did — there was nothing we could do. No matter how light the footfall, it was very noisy.

In short: if you’re a light sleeper, this may not be the place for you.

Staff were all delightful and as I said, dinner was good.

We stayed in this beautiful, unique, quirky hotel. Everything was perfect. Angela was very welcoming and helpful, full of useful information. Recommended a lovely indians to have an evening meal, although the hotel does serve food, we all wanted a curry. Angela welcomed us to our room which was beautiful room 8 very spacious, jacuzzi bath which was lovely, personal touches and fantastic view. We had breakfast and made to feel at home, from pastrys, cerial, freah juice, tea (all different varietys) coffee and choice of cooked breakfast. The food was cooked to prefection, very good quality food, jeanette who served the food was lovely nothing was a problem. She catered to everyones needs with a smile I would highly recommend this hotel its a hidden gem. Staff go above and beyond to make your stay welcome. We also enjoyed that you dont need to check out until 11am gives you that little extra time to enjoy a nice cuppa looking at the beautiful views. The hotel also has alot of interesting history.

Quite disappointed with the “Christmas” meal we had. Never had leek and potato soup that was so green.|2 very thin slices of turkey (off a roll), massive thick slice of stuffing and I suppose maybe a inch of a pig in blanket all covered in gravy. Roast potatoes and mixed frozen veg - no seasonal veg eg sprouts, carrots and parsnips.|Had previously praised this place, but certainly not this Christmas menu.|I really hope the menu on Christmas Day is better. It should be as it says it’s a carvery.
