The most wonderful night, we booked another! Sometimes a hotel has just really thought of everything and it’s so refreshing. From the little welcome drink & nibbles to the kettle in the room being pre filled. Oh and the homemade shortbread in the room was just incredible! Bedrooms were so comfortable, it felt like home.|Service was amazing throughout the day and evening. We brought our little dog and he was also spoilt! Loved the towels in the room and water bowls again just made our stay so easy. We ended up staying for 2 nights and it was just the most relaxing and idyllic getaway! Thank you

From arrival to departure, just perfect. We simply did not leave for the first 24hrs and why would you when everyone is welcoming, friendly and tailor every gesture to your own wish. From a relaxing cream tea, to a perfect cosmo or whiskey from hundreds to choose from to a delicious dinner with perfectly temperatured wines. You can find a place to read, go for a walk, enjoy a relaxing spa treatment or a swim in the pool. Or just have a nap in your room that offers the comfort of your own coffee/tea selection with home baked short breads or just some fresh complimentary fruit or beautifully wrapped home made truffles with a handwritten note just saying how nice it is that you are just here. I can go on and on. Very relaxing, a perfect hideaway from the reality outside and just an escape without the rules and regulations of day to day life. Here you can just be yourself.

We stayed for one night in a Courtyard room with extra beds for our daughter and dog. ||The team at Summer Lodge are at the top of their game; they are clearly all very experienced and from beginning to end the welcome and service is warm and professional. The restaurant service runs like clockwork and nothing is too much trouble. Food is delicious, good wines too. ||The hotel is genuinely dog friendly but with human only spaces for people who might be less keen. ||The pool was warm and welcoming; our daughter enjoyed it a lot. ||Thank you Summer Lodge for a great start to 2025. We will be back!

Very welcoming and comfortable stay - place exudes quality and history, Nothing was too much bother. We were looked after in an understated way. The Spa was equally as accommodating very professionally run clean and well equipped. Classic hotel in beautiful Dorset village.

My partner and I spent three wonderful days at Summer Lodge to celebrate her special birthday.

The staff were consistently courteous, professional and friendly: we were received with a special birthday tea and a lovely welcoming message from the managers.

Our room was perfect, the meals were delicious, the grounds are delightful and the location is ideal for exploring the glorious Hardy Country (incidentally, Thomas Hardy was an architect who designed a wing of Summer Lodge).

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will certainly return.

From our arrival to departure, everything was wonderful. The staff were friendly, special mention to Phillip who explained each food dish perfectly and helpful. Tasty drinks and nibbles in our room on arrival, delicious complimentary homemade shortbread was a nice welcome touch. Food was absolutely amazing, so delicious, huge compliments to the Chef and his team. Just fabulous 🤗

I’ve just stayed here for two nights and I just had to leave a review. There are many places in the UK that are beautifully furnished and in wonderful locations BUT there are very few that have such a wonderful team of people looking after you. As a solo (widowed) traveller it’s often tricky manoeuvring single residency and dining. So many times I’ve had to endure the “ is it just you?” syndrome every time I’ve frequented the bar or dining room making me want to scream “yes I’m all on my own!” Summer Lodge know how to spoil all their guests and they oozed welcoming understanding vibes throughout my stay. The food is just insanely good and they have so many extra little touches like the fresh shortbread in your room, the cookies and water for your journey home and the constant human touches of people being in the right place at the right time saying all the right things to make you feel welcome. This was my first visit but it won’t be my last.

Went many years ago for lunch so decided to revisit for afternoon tea whilst on holiday in the area. What can I say. Unquestionably the best afternoon tea I have ever had. Service is impeccable without being overbearing. Lovely peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Had a nice chat with the manager (sorry forgot his name). Strongly recommend.
