Recently visited for Sunday lunch. The hotel is quite beautiful, with lots of rooms to drink, dine & relax. Lovely open fires burning in many of the rooms, including the restaurant area. It was beautifully set out, was warm & cozy & respectfully quiet.
Pricing for such a venue was, in my opinion, very reasonable and all of our meals were delicious.
My only criticism was that we got only a very small jug of gravy and the gravy was generic, no matter your choice of meat! Also, I ordered apple sauce but it never arrived. Otherwise it was a beautiful meal followed by a wonderful walk through the estate. Fabulous 👌

We've stayed here 5 times over the past ten years and it's gradually got worse. We've stayed in both the hotel and the cottages, the hotel is lovely and the surrounding area. More recently we've stayed in the cottages as we have young children. The weekend service is markedly different than the weekday especially breakfast, the bacon had been predone rock hard , my son's pancakes were more like frisbees and I tried every coffee option in the place including the terrace at £9.40 for two flat whites , all are terrible, I'm sure they used to give you Nespresso pods in the room but now it's just like swimming pool vending machine coffee, they'll likely cite green credentials for this. Also the cottages weren't very clean and looking tired inside. Also there is no parking for cottage High Swinton and a very muddy path upto the front door , this made unloading shocking, and they ask you to park across the road in the main carpark , all in all for about £2000 for 3 nights including breakfast in the hotel it was crap value for money.

Beautiful place, we've visited a few time before for different experiences. Lots of things to do for a mixture of interests. Rooms are lovely. The only thing that let's it down is the service. Staff are lovely, but slow and we had to physically get up and get people's attention during our meal at Samuel's restaurant several times.

Would highly recommend. My girlfriend booked this for my 30th. We had a room, evening meal and Spa. There were so many little extras for free, like champagne on arrival, shooting and the service was the best I’ve had! Deer park view and the walks in the grounds were unbelievable!

We booked a laser clay pigeon shoot here as an end of holiday treat. The weather forecast for the day had been fog, but we assumed 'it would be fine' because the booking form didn't mention the event may be cancelled if the weather was "normal for Yorkshire".

We arrived and were told that the event had been cancelled and that decision had been made first thing in the morning. However we had not been informed and travelled some distance to participate.

Thoroughly disappointed.

Popped in for a lunch time drink and enjoyed it so much, we stayed the night!

Food is fresh and sourced from nearby producers, prioritising farmers on the estate.

New bar is very smart, I could have moved into the billiards room, walking grounds were breathtaking but the pinnacle was the Chef’s Table. Honestly, my mouth hasn’t recovered from the taste extravaganza!!

The manager mentioned they might have a couple of spare seats at the chef’s table when we were thinking about staying and it sealed the deal. Was it worth it? Holy moly yes!

Will be back next year! Thank you Ian and Terry who made it extra special.

So We did the chef table tonight. It was fantastic. Josh the chef was amazing., He explained things really well and told us all about the food more importantly, the food was absolutely spectacular

What a lad!!

And Shannon the sommelier -knew her stuff really well and was so informative .

Could not fault any of them

We had a wonderful 2 nights stay. Great location with wonderful grounds and internal rooms full of history. Staff were excellent and could not have done more to ensure we had a great stay.
Food excellent.
